Wonderous news. I had a feeling they were waiting for Week 2's numbers to approve the 2nd season.
.......and sweet Jebus, I can only PRAY Season 1 ends with spoilers:end of spoilers - just that alone should garner a 3rd season automatically.
Rick & Co. getting to that prison ![]()
The Punisher: I’m going to cauterize your rectum, sealing it shut, so when you turn those delicious Pink Pants™ Fruit Pies into waste products the bilirubin in your feces will leach into your bloodstream and you’ll die screaming! And I’ll watch while having sex with this grateful prostitute!

I was a little disappointed in episode 2 (I loved episode 1). It was kind of cheesy and the acting wasn't great. That guy on the roof (who is not in the comic as far as I remember) is obviously going to survive and be a foil for Rick. Anyone know exactly what the number of viewers was for episode 2?
4.7 million viewers.
I agree the second episode was not as good as the first. The rooftop scene is poorly acted.
Keep in mind that Kirkman wanted the show to expand and move beyond the comic, so that there was enough new story for fans of the comic while also staying true to the spirit of the comic. We will be seeing a few characters that weren't in the comic and some other characters who are in the comic will have their stories expanded.
Anyway, I didn't get to see the second episode yet, but I'm looking forward to it. And the factbthat a second season has been green lit is incredible news. A bright spot in my day....
Oh hell yes.
I think some changes we may see....and spoiler tags for the non readers.

Shane will live until the 2nd or 3rd season. Why do I think this....a few reasons. He's gonna be a counter to Rick and someone else on the show as a male lead. It takes time building that chemistry onscreen for a TV audiance and Shane is that. Also the fact the director has said he wants to shoot the season and eviroment change for the next season. Shane didn't die til the fall/winter as we saw.
Also I think if the show keeps going 4-5 years down the road , when it comes to the prison storyline and destruction there....we may see Lori survive. Since a man keeping his family alive and surviving in a zombie world works best. Plus the fact Rick having a nervous breakdown for issues and talking alone on the phone won't work on TV as well.

I don't know, that really shook things up and in a good way. Shifting his focus from his family to just Carl made it a lot more tragic and interesting. And the phone thing, that's a their "Walkabout" episode, I hope they keep that. Carl does a lot of growing up from that point on, I'd hate to miss out on that.
As far as Shane living goes, if they do keep him alive long enough to reach the prison I could see them doing a lot of interesting things. They could switch out Lori's death for his, make Shane go out on an high note, maybe take Hershel's place/death. Or maybe he joins the Woodbury crew because he feels his position with Rick's group slipping away, but turns on the Governor at the end the way that woman (who shot Lori and the baby) did.

you're probably right and thats what should happen. I was thinking maybe they'd get to the end of the first volume by the 6th episode, but they seemed to be building on shane's character before it premeired so he might be sticking around to either middle or end of second season. I want that scene to by a hardcore teerk-jerker. If I don't run out of tears by the end of it, then they did it wrong!
I imagine the guy on the roof is being setup to be a nemesis for the group later on. That's the whole point of his being there in the first place.
They even had a setup for his escape as the fat guy kicked over the bag of tools when he tripped and fell.
That would be the worst idea, ever. Sorry. It just would.
Personally I hope the season ends

With Carl getting shot and sets up Season 2 as a year on the Farm. I thought they rushed through the Hershel subplot the first time around and we didn't even get to know the kids before they were slaughtered.
Season 1 - Shane (Atlanta)
Season 2 - Hershel (Farm)
Season 3 - Prison
Season 4 - Governor (Woodberry)
Season 5 - Abe (Road)
Season 6 - Washington
