Default CBR: Martin Sheen Is Uncle Ben

The veteran actor joins the cast of director Marc Webb's Spider-Man relaunch as the ill-fated uncle who sends Peter Parker on his path from high school nerd to web-slinging superhero.

I can get behind that, Martin Sheen is pretty awesome.

I like some of Sheen's old school movies, Apocalypse Now for example, but he is a horrible actor.

Lol, So far the cast for this film makes me laugh.

It's sort of strange to me that they chose someone who looks so much like the actor to play Uncle Ben in Raimi's Spider-Man, Cliff Robertson, only younger.

Seems to be a good choice although I am not looking forward to his inevitable demise as Uncle Ben (assuming Spider-man's genesis/origin will remain intact as we know it to be).

I thought he was great with his dialogue in the video game Mass Effect 2 as the Illusive Man.

Andwhatever else happens with the reboot, it is already superior to the first Raimi film.
'The marquis. Well, you know, to be honest, he seems a little bit dodgy to me.'
'Mm,' she agreed. 'He's a little bit dodgy in the same way that rats are a little bit covered in fur."

I don't think I've ever seen him in a movie I didn't enjoy, I'm really tryin to think hard but he has a pretty solid record in my opinion. Anyway he looks pretty good in this comparison:

Oh, yeah, because Andrew Garfield is awful. I forgot. Seriously, see Mark Romanek's Never Let Me Go. I saw that flick and immediately realized, despite my not knowing who he was when the casting was announced, why he was chosen. He's beyond perfect.
This just in: Chris Sprouse has pulled out of Orson Scott Card.

If this is the origin story all over again I'll pass. Already saw it not that long ago.

The only thing I'll be sad about Sheen's appearance in the film, is if he doesn't go into a over the top rant on how someone isn't American or if he doesn't kill a hamster with a cigarette.

In seriousness, I love Martin Sheen for his acting and the fact that he comes from my home state of Ohio. I think he can pull this role off and now I'm getting really excited about seeing this reboot.

So Uncle Ben is back for this one. It must be the origin story which was done less than 10 years ago. Why do it again? I'll admit I didn't like the third movie, but it wasn't because of the cast. I can see this playing out badly, I hope I'm wrong.

I hope it's in flashbacks. Martin Sheen, with this generation, would own as Uncle Ben; HOWEVER, IF this next Spidey flick is indeed another reboot/origin flick - FU<K this movie, FU<k this franchise, and F...T....W!!!

    Bwahahahahahaha.......................

Garfield is a horrible choice for the lead role.

    This is proof. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-vsctKad_A

While Martin Sheen would be a great Uncle Ben, I'm sure...I just dont need another Uncle Ben story. Flashbacks, MAYBE, but Raimi already did that too.

Im really not looking forward to this reboot. But I'll still be of the, "we'll see," mind.
