My favorite version is probably the Green Scar because he doesn't take shit from anybody and calls things out for what they are. Plus I think he's the most powerful version of the hulk to date.

Least favorite version: Old Man Logan "Hulk Family" I like OML, but that was honestly a stupid thing to do. The hulks all started having sex with each other to survive? Seriously?

Default Incredible Hulk Visionaries: Peter David

I was going to start a new thread about this, but then I saw this one and figured it was as good a place as any to ask, so here goes.

So I just picked up the first 2 volumes of PAD's Incredible Hulk Visionaries at my lcs because they were having a big sale; I've never been a fan and nothing I've seen/read has ever enticed me to pick up an issue of any of his many series. To be honest, everything I've seen/read about the character's current direction (over the past few yrs or so) seems completely ridiculous, but I digress...

Anyway, I love PAD and I've heard lots of praise for his Hulk run so I gave it a shot. I'm almost done with vol. 1 and it's... pretty good. Not bad by any means, but not great. I'm interested enough to finish it (and then vol.2) but beyond that I'm not sure. Can any of you guys tell me when PAD's Hulk really takes off? How many volumes do I have to buy before I'm hooked? Any advice is appreciated!

P.S. I love Gary Frank and know he worked on the book for awhile, but am I still a long ways off from that?

I'd say the run takes off, at least visually, around the time Dale Keown comes on board, who is then followed by Gary Frank--#369-423 (starting with Keown's first regular issue and ending with Frank's last) is the absolute peak of the run. That's were I end it, since the run starts to decline after Frank's departure. Marvel started to seriously decline about this time, so it's a great "stopping point" for me personally.

My favorite version of the Hulk was the Proffessor, he may not had the rage but if he couldn't beat you up he could definitely out smart you. (ps he never had a costume kind just pants and a tank top ...Luke Cage)

Least favorite Hulk .... Hmmmmm that tough probably the Hulk from the first movie... Only because they made him grow when he got mad.... Hulk doesn't grow he just kicks butt!!

I thought (and still do) that PAD's best stuff was from #331 thru #377.
He finished up the loose ends from Byrne and Milgrom's runs, and then ran off in a whole different direction with the Gray Hulk, who had never been fully fleshed out. He was intelligent, brutish, weaker...
    Then the Mr. Fixit era...
Then the dual Hulks and the merger.
All strong stuff, with the occasional "ho-hum" issue or two.

    I agree.
Issues #331 thru #425 were the cream of the crop of PAD's Hulk.
For myself, everything after that was a giant "MEH!", especially with the whole "Marvel Edge" stuff.
I know there are fans of the post-merger stories, but they weren't my cup o' tea.
And most of it wasn't PAD's fault -- "Onslaught" and "Heroes Reborn" derailed a lot of the storylines that he wanted to start.

I agree, the whole Joe Fixit saga was tight. But Hulk really went down under pAD's wing during Onslaught and Heroes Reborn. Onslaught totally screwed up the build up after Ghosts of the Future.
