As of 5 seconds ago, it's there.
Was it gone?
I tend to split superhero comics fans into "People who like Krypto" and "People who don't like Krypto."
Basically, if you miss the wonder of a dog flying around in a little Superman cape, you're in the wrong hobby.

Heh, heh... as I mentioned somewhere once... everyone that I had spoken to back in the late 70s that were interested in such things seemed to state the same thing as Romita does here regarding Ditko and ASM. Namely that he was always expected to return to the title... and that was basically the reasoning behind Romita trying to emulate Ditko's style in those first few issues after taking over the penciling duties... Ditko was always expected to come back one day.
But again, I find it hard to believe now, after reading all the dirt that's come out over the past few years, that anyone close to the situation could possibly believe that. I'm not saying that I'd tend to disbelieve what Romita is saying. It's just probably a case of him being "out of the loop" as much as anyone else with regard to the level of animosity that must have existed between Stan, Goodman and Ditko at the time. That, and probably also that it was likely that Ditko wasn't around (physically) at Marvel at the time he got involved in the Spidey book... guess Romita really wasn't there to see the friction (if any) that might have existed between them.
