Issue 4 furthers the creepiness and perhaps even ratchets things up a notch. I continue to find the Inquisitor possibly the most appalling of all, reciting biblical verses to justify torture. I know the young couple were tainted, but still... just brutal. Interesting that he considers Baltimore to be a bad guy -- seems like they should be on the same side, fighting vampires, etc. Things are definitely building towards an impressive climax in issue 5....

Loved the part where Haigus offers a little history lesson -- found myself just staring at a couple of those panels, much like some of the ominous apocalyptic glimpses we've seen in the pages of BPRD. Throughout this book, the art and coloring are top-notch especially the profusion of red blood which contrasts starkly with the overall darker gray/black tone palette.

Just read issues 1-5 in one sitting. Wow, that was incredible... and I'm already wanting more. This is a much darker universe than the Hellboy universe. I was actually surprised just how dark this went. It certainly didn't pull any punches. And Ben Stenbeck's art is getting better with each story too.

I'm actually curious how these Baltimore comics will wrap up. Eventually they'll catch up to the ending of the novel, but it wouldn't be satisfying to just stop there or to rehash it.

Can't wait till Dr. Leskovar’s Remedy in June.

Great conclusion. I thought the final fate of Herr Hitler was particularly gruesome and deserved.

Me too; I actually wonder if at some point the series will "spin off" a mini of the tales told by the men as they waited on Baltimore. It would give those who never read the novel, and probably never will, a chance to see how awesome and frightening the events that bond these men truly is.

One point I'm intereted in seeing how it plays out is the Inquisitor. I don't like him and will be glad to see Baltimore purify *that* vile demon disguised as man of God.

I love these hardcover editions. Dark Horse is really going all out to make sure Baltimore looks fantastic. I couldn't be happier with the presentation.

I just got the email from TFAW, my copy is in the mail! This is going to be a long 7 seven days, I think I might reread the novel and the first trade.

For fear of spoilers I've refrained from peering backwards, but with out getting into it too much how do you guys feel the curse bells stacks up to the novel, the Plague Ships and the free comicbook day issue?

It is the strongest of the bunch, imo.
    Recent Nature Sightings:
Sept 24: Two Orcas close to shore.
Nov 14: Trumpeter Swans, Bald Eagles catching salmon (and a duck!), Harbour Seals, Steller Sea Lions, Kingfisher.
