Sega does not have a good track record with Marvel videogames. The Iron Man and Hulk games have both been mediocre.
Don't expect anything other than a video game made up for the sake of a tie-in.
Sounds cool to me. I hope you get to unlock different costumes like the Wolverine game that came out awhile back (around the time of his solo movie). I'd love to be able to play in the Ultimate costume as well as others like the current Bucky-Cap costume (designed by Alex Ross) and the U.S. Agent costume. I know it wouldn't make sense considering it's set in WWII, but who cares? Unlocking alternate costumes is part of the fun!
All Sega's movie tie in games are crap. I expect this to be no different. It's just a money making excersize, no real effort is put in to make a quality product.
That's what I hate about all the current Sega developed games.
To be fair, Marvel or whoever is in charge probably sets some sort of crazy deadline for them to finish the game by. But still, they always have a lot of lead time before announcing it and I continue to wonder why they keep getting Sega to churn out these mediocre games.
I think people will eventually learn that they're putting out terrible licensed games and then nobody's going to want to buy them, which I hope happens eventually.
The idea and concept art are amazing. This could easily be Marvel's answer to DC's Batman Arkham Asylum. But the graphics need major work to be on par. Lets hope they do manage to work on it more and add some great atmosphere and detail to this.
Sadly, from what I understand the cheapo/crappy licensed games tend to sell pretty well. Not massive hits like Halo or whatever, but more than good enough to keep churning them out. It's like the video game equivalent of horror movies: Minimum investment for maximum return. The rare exceptions that buck the trend generally being happy accidents (XMO: Wolverine, Hulk: Ultimate Destruction) or concerted efforts by "outside the box" developers that aren't directly tied to a movie (Arkham Asylum).
I would be absolutely floored if Sega managed to churn out something remotely close to Arkham Asylum in terms of quality, unless they announce a two-year delay like...tomorrow. Concept art almost always looks pretty good, but sadly doesn't always translate well into the finished product. This has all the signs of another rushed-through, crappy adaptation (Iron Man, Iron Man 2, etc...). Though they do seem to be aping Arkham Asylum's "limited sandbox" scheme from the sounds of things (confining it to one "Nazi Castle" from the sound of things).
Oh well, if nothing else there'll probably be lots of nifty easter eggs. They're about the only thing Sega's Marvel efforts have been good for.

Yeah that's pretty unfortunate. I usually tend to either rent licensed games that get good word of mouth (Ult. Alliance, Wolverine Origins, ect) or wait for the good ones to hit dirt cheap.
I just want to be able to sever Baron Blood's head with my shield.

Actually, doesn't look that bad. Sort of Prince of Persia-ish.
The Punisher: I’m going to cauterize your rectum, sealing it shut, so when you turn those delicious Pink Pants™ Fruit Pies into waste products the bilirubin in your feces will leach into your bloodstream and you’ll die screaming! And I’ll watch while having sex with this grateful prostitute!
Trussed-Up Hooker: Blueberry are my favorite!
In other words, what StoneGold said.

I'm going to hold out hope on this one, even though I am expecting a massive disappointment.
I'd like that. The alternate costumes are always a nice touch for the fans in Marvel games. The Playstation Spider-Man games were brilliant for the amount of costumes available, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance had a good selection too. The SEGA Hulk game had some unlockable costumes like Joe Fixit and that, so maybe this Cap game will have some too?Originally Posted by Jackraow21
All I know is on Marvel Ultimate Alliance, I bloody loved playing as U.S. Agent. Always a good palette swap by my books.
I'd just like everyone to know that not only am I dropping Marvel, I'm dropping this forum considering I'm not even allowed to voice a negative opinion because a thread "isn't about me".
