I think the best work Adlard has done has been his collaborations with Joe Casey - Rock Bottom and Codeflesh.
"Ladies and gentlemen, tonight is not just another show for us. Tonight is arena football at its finest. Thank you" - David Letterman
It's great that Adlard enjoys working on The Walking Dead .. because his art is a big part of it .. just perfect for the material it seems.
It's also great that Adlard is making a very good living drawing an independent creator owned comic. Not so long ago .. that was unthinkable. I mean, Jack Kirby couldn't do it. Neal Adams couldn't do it. and they tried to. They always had to go back to the corporate product to pay the bills.
But Kirkman and Adlard are doing it. and now .. their work has moved to TV. Which hopefully will lead to even more success for them .. and more great entertainment for the fans.
Interesting, I didn't know that about Kirby. That is a trip.
At first I was bummed Tony Moore left the book, but Charlie's art has really grown on me. The serious, grave tone is a better fit for the book, IMO.
I thought it was a shame that his kids didn't really have an "interest" in his work/drawings.
