I know Kevin Nichols through a guy that knows a gal. Small world!
If nihilism didn't take some delight in destruction one might suspect nihilists were an unnaturally morbid sort.

I think I have every appearance of Spider-Man from 1967 to 1990 or so. The only holes in that timeframe are: some random giveaway comics involving toothpaste, a couple Petey Parker stories, a few Spider-Ham stories, and much of Spidey Super Stories (those things tend to be damned expensive).
I only have a few random issues of the first 85 issues of Amazing Spider-Man, but I have access to all the issues in Ombinus/Masterworks, with which I'm content.
Spider-Man made too many guest appearances in the '90s, and I think I'm giving up on getting all of them, though I have a large number of them.
I have almost* every comic in which Spider-Man is the title character up until 2004 or so, when I started getting lots of things in trade. I have every main Spidey title up until the first issue of Brand New Day, when I started exclusively buying trades. I slowly but surely get most Spider-Man things Marvel puts into trade.
All told, I think my Spider-Man collection is some 2,500 comics, plus several trades and such. Though I might need to think a bit harder about that estimate. Definitely more than 2000 and I suspect it's still less than 3000 comics.
*I'm still missing a couple parts of the Planet of the Symbiotes, Untold Tales of Spider-Man #22, a couple issues of Spider-Man Unlimited, and probably a couple other things. EDIT: On closer inspection, I'm also missing a few issues of Spider-Man Adventures and Adventures of Spider-Man. I'm sure I'm overlooking a couple random things.

I hated the cover of issue 312 of Amazing at the time, it put me off Spidey for years because I thought that this style was now the norm, just shows you what I knew. However a few of the recent issues are also putting me off because the art does not capture a good Peter Parker likeness. Although I would be the first to admit that I could not even begin to draw to that standard let alone say Gene Colan.

Onward, to futility!
Fairly substantial. 62 issues away from a complete run on Amazing. Full runs on Web, Spectacular, Peter Parker, Sensational, Friendly Neighborhood, Adjective-less, Unlimited, Ultimate, and Spider-Man Family. Nearly complete run of Marvel Team-Up. Most mini-series. I think it's pretty safe to say that if Spidey appeared in a comic book after 1970, I probably have it (I'm sure I am missing some, but I would say most of his appearances I have). I do buy all variant covers to Spidey books, so I have most of them (except that Niagara Falls issue of Ultimate...I want it!). Plus a crapload of random toys, posters, trading card boxes, clothing, etc. Some original artwork. Stamps. Puzzles. All kinds of stuff that my wife doesn't understand.
You know what I don't have any of? The Randy Bowen statues. I don't know why. I love them, I just never bought one.
