I think they're numbered? I've seen some in my comic store before, at least 3? Same for X-men.
While I'm here, any good Standalone Venom Trades? Same goes for Spider-man actually, what are their best stories?

So, I'm interested in Avenging Spider-man, especially with the collection coming up, and I'm wondering if it's recommended? I'm not a huge fan of Spidey, but with little bits I've seen recently I'm kind of getting interested in seeing what it's about, and ASM seems like the most interesting series to me - especially due to all its guest stars and so on, plus the upcoming issue by the Immonens.
Not sure if this is also an appropriate place to ask, but where's the best place to start with any of the Spider-girl series? I'm going to get Family Values at some point, but is there any trade in particular I want for the previous holder of that title?
The DC New 52 got me interested in comic books and now i want to tryout "Amazing Spider-Man". My only knowledge of Spider-Man is from the 90's cartoon on Fox. I've read the wiki plot summaries for 'Big Time' and 'Spider-Island'. Would that be enough to understand what is going on in 'Ends of the Earth' or should i go further back?
Can someone point to me a link or tell me the “Essential” story lines in the Spider-man history?
I don’t want to read 40 trades but if someone could give me a link too or tell me like the 10 most important Spider-man trades, im sure someone has done something like this somewhere but i cant find it anywhere so even if someone can point me to it?
Hello guys, I've been away for quite some time, if anyone remembers me here. Anyway, I had to stop purchasing comics for quite some time due to financial reasons but now I am thinking of picking some stuff. I haven't read anything since 654.1, if I remember right, except that I saw there's a Scarlet Spider comic now and I had to pick it. Seemed good. So, I would like to know if I have missed anything important and what I should read.
Definitely read the Big Time trade, and possibly Matters of Life and Death. Dan Slott made a lot of status quo changes there, and if you read that then you should be caught up on all the major points of Pete's life. Current issues are usually very accessible though. As for Scarlet Spider (fantastic series), reading a synopsis of Spider Island should give enough background on Kaine (unless you're unfamiliar with the Clone Saga, but I'll assume you know who Kaine is). For a more complete Kaine history, however, read Grim Hunt and Spider Island.
I've been out of comics for a while, but I want to get back into Amazing Spider-Man at least. Thanks for the info about the trades, sounds like it won;t be too hard to get caught up.
So I want to start reading amazing SM.. From what I've read big time seems like the best jumping on point correct? If I start there i'll pick up the volumes am I missing anything?
Big time vol 1
SM matters of life and death
SM the fantasic SM
SM return of the anit-venom
Spider-island
SM flying blind
Should I also get SM spider island companion?
Amazing Spider-Man #655-656 is fantastic, dealing with the aftermath of a death in 654.
Amazing Spider-Man #663-665 ties up some loose ends with Mister Negative, and features an excellent standalone issue in which a friend of Peter's is hurt.
Spider Island is worth getting in trade.
Amazing Spider-Man #678-679 is a clever time-travel two-parter.
Marvel Masterworks: Spider-Man Volume 4 is probably the best introduction to Silver Age Spidey.
Kraven's Last Hunt is universally agreed to be one of the best Spider-Man stories.
Birth of Venom features the Alien Costume saga, as well as the first David Micheline/ Todd Mcfarlane Venom stories.
Origin of the Hobgoblin features Roger Stern's first Hobgoblin stories.
Spider-Man/ Human Torch: I'm With Stupid is a great trip through various Spider-Man eras.
Spider-Man: Blue is an excellent take on the Gwen/ Peter/ MJ love triangle.

I'm not sure if this is quite the appropriate thread in which to ask, but does anyone recommend Paul Jenkins' Spectacular Spider-Man v. 2? A local used book store has all 6 trades for cheap, and while Ramos' art isn't my favorite, the price(s)are almost too good to pass up.
Unless of course the stories are horrible; in which case I'll have no problem skipping these.![]()
