I will begin with issue 648 then I think! Thanks a lot.

I heard the last few issue's have been pretty good. I'm still a bit bummed that they completely removed the marriage.. Like that the hell..
I was looking online about some new amazing spiderman issue's and I heard MJ might remember a bit of the marriage? Is this true?
Nope, she does know Peter is spidey. The story that explains why they no longer remember the marriage (and why its no longer possible to remember it) is the story One Moment In Time, near the end of of BND. Though it is about as good as One More Day so I say avoid it. She actually didn't get reintroduced into the book until late in the BND era. Though if it makes you feel better she does have a subplot going on right now.

Hmm must be pretty bad then .. But thanks for the info.
It sometimes can be a bit hard to get back into a comic that u've missed for a while.
I kinda hope that 1 day they will remember there marriage ore something.. In my opinion One more day is the most sucky story line ever but yea..

It was, but I preferred the marriage to him being single so what do I know.

They weren't married, that doesn't mean they weren't together. I know its a little confusing, things like this usually are.

I think at this point MJ didn't think that she was going to go back to New York. Also this was pre-OMIT and during the Braintrust era where four different authors were writing Spidey. So it may have been MJ just feeling fatalist, a plot hint dropped and forgotten, or, like we've said, confusing writing.

Picked up Spider Island and its companion OHC recently, but I've got a voucher for Amazon and I'm wondering if I should pick up the four books that immediately precede it? I've not read ANY modern Spider-Man and though I've heard good things about Big Time. Any thoughts?

Return of Anti-Venom's good, but I would more strongly recommend Shed (collected in The Gauntlet, Vol. 5: Lizard), Grim Hunt, or some of JMS's Spidey, especially the Back in Black stories.
But that's just my personal opinion.

I just finished reading the volumes you're asking about and I'd say they're worth it. Big Time is rather good, especially if you like Humberto Ramos. As a starting point it's great point too if you haven't really read Spiderman for awhile. Matters of Life and Death is fantastic, but it's more a collection of pieces than a story arc. Aside from featuring the most significant change to Spidey's way of operating (I won't spoil), it also features two rather poignant issue where Spidey reflects on the lives and deaths of the people around him. The standout in my opinion is the first Appearance of Flash Thompson as Venom, essential if you want to read Remender's venom which I've heard is fantastic. The Fantastic Spiderman is fun, but I'm digging Hickman's changes to the Fantastic Four so this is a nice companion to that series. Otherwise it's got some interesting development between Carlie and Peter and the two issues where Spidey teaches at the Avengers Academy which are a hoot. Return of Anti Venom is...well it's not bad, but it really serves are a lead into Spider Island and no much more in my opinion. It does tie up some of the lingering Brand New Day storylines, but I can't stand Aunt May anymore and this volume has a bit too much of her. Hope that helps you decide.

Ended up getting the ones I mentioned, as it happens my mum blind-bought Shed for me last Christmas and I loved it. Excited now to read through from Big Time to Spider-Island, pick up th enext two trades then jump on monthly, pretty much like I've done with Batman. First time following comics in over a decade, very exciting.

At this point, a better place to start might be The Big Time, which kicked off the next era of Spider-Man comics.

The first three Big Time trades were just collected in a bigger collection, which is a pretty good deal for 16 issues of content.

Frankly, you should be able to start reading with the first part of any arc. A new storyline begins next week with Amazing Spider-Man #688.

    Hi.

I half just started to read the Amazing Spider-Man in the last year and a half and I am only really now starting to read at any sort of pace. I just want to know are there any graphic novels that are modernized retellings of the origin story other than Spider-Man: Season One? I would read Ultimate Spider-Man 1 but I don't want to get into another universe, I just want to have a one-off story. I don't like the look of the art in that either. Are there any graphic novels or collections that you would recommend? Would you recommend picking up the new comics or should I just stick to reading from my current spot? I also like the look of the art in the more modern comics and a big lover of all things New York City, which is one of the main reason I started liking Spider-Man in the first place. Are there any issues, graphic novels or collections that you would recommend based on the how the city, landmarks etc. look in the art? That's secondary of course but something I find really cool about the modern comics. Of course, I'm not going to buy tons of graphic novels simply based on the fact that Times Square or the Flatiron Building looks great in them but its something I've considered when looking at books and graphic novels in stores.

    Thanks.
