    Default Superboy Appreciation

Surpised there isn't one of these yet, if there is feel free to merge or close.

I would do a little bio write up, but I don't feel qualified. I first got to liking Superboy during Teen Titans. I read Johns Adventure Comics too and look forward to his new on-going.

What are some other suggested Superboy readings?
What is this, Horseville? Because I'm surrounded by naysayers.

Did'nt like his EXTREME 90's attitude when he first appeared and did'nt like his emo attitude from the early 2000's, but he seems to have evolved into a better character in Adventure Comics and I'm really excited for Lemire's run.

Superboy essentials reads are the entire Young Justice series, Infinite Crisis and Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds.

It wasn't really an "EXTREME '90s attitude" when he first appeared. He was just a cocky, flirtatious teenager who liked to exploit the perks of being a superhero. I mean, if that's a "90s attitude", then Johnny Storm has had a '90s attitude since the '60s. I kind of like this version, myself.

I agree about the "emo attitude" from the beginning of his Teen Titans career, though.

But, what can I say, Kon-El's just awesome. Like the man says, "You don't mess with the S".

My only exposure to Superboy is his debut in Reign of the Supermen. He reminds me of Grant Morrison's Zenith (of which I've only started reading recently). I will give the new book a chance, hoping I will be converted into a fan.

i like him a great deal more than superman.

i just wish he had a better costume. someone on here i think had a fan art done of superboy in almost a red robin cowl, or i think it might have been a zip hoodie with a domino mask connected. it looks awesome. it would be original for the superman family.

still he could be in street clothes. but honestly why does no one know connor kent it superboy?

he doesnt even have anyway to hide it. he wears the S shirt in public

I thought that Conner mimics Clark and wears glasses and messed up hair and collared shirts to keep his ID secret. At least, that's what he was doing back in the pages of Adventure Comics when Geoff Johns was writing it.

If he is popular doesn't that justify having a thread to talk about him?

And another thing (because I can't sleep and no Conner appreciation thread will die on my watch):

Why does Match, formerly a unique villain, have to be a generic Bizarro? I guess efforts are being made these days to ensure every family hero has their own versions of main villains (see NuAnarky/Joker for Tim, Johns' Inertia/Zoom for Bart, BizarroGirl for Kara) but why does Match need to be so uninspired?

I'd prefer him to be a bit more assertive... like a Daken-type but sort of a brother to Conner. He'd come into town under pretenses of good, split the other teen heroes on him, but really he'd be in it for his own ambitions. A free agent. Occasionally they could meet on good terms, cementing the need for them to overcome the other when the time comes. Which is much like he was in the initial introduction. One other difference is that I do not want Match to be obsessed with Kon -- it should be the other way around. Kon will see it as his responsibility to control Match, but he cannot.

    TL;DR
    Basically I want this guy:

    With some Jason Todd added.

Edit: If I was EIC, the very first thing I'd do is make Titans East (tighten fists) a fever dream by Ravager or something. That arc, awful in itself, ruined so many things. Match, Cassandra Cain, Deathstroke.

I don't know, man. All the '90s teen heroes got made more like their mentors and predecessors, and many of the associated characters followed suit.

It's unfortunate, because they all used to be rather unique. But, thems the breaks.

Man, it's just so true. Every time I see Bart these days... I pretty much think it's Wally. He even looks identical to Wally nowadays. Cassie's personality has been absolutely abolished. And Tim...poor Tim.

(I hope the YJ cartoon leads to a return of Secret in the current DCU, love Secret.)

Where did you find the Superboy pic with Krypto, New Mutant? I'd like someone to post a larger one if possible, please and thank you.

Can't STAND his 90's look (though the one he had near the end was a lot better), but he's one of my favorite characters.

So happy he's finally getting some animated love.
