Default CBR: Levitz & Giffen Return To "The Legion"

For the first time in over 20 years, the legendary team that redefined DC's far future superteam will combine forces for a new story in December's "Legion of Super-Heroes Annual" #1.

Somehow for me "Morrison and Quitely" don't quite measure up to the other two...but that's just me.

So nice to see two legends re-teaming for an issue from their iconic past collaboration. Soon we'll get Wolfman/Perez on Titans:Games as well!!

Legion of Superheroes with Giffen's crazyness and humor?, seems like I'm going to start picking the series.

    Not really.

But regardless, I'm pretty amped for this.

I wish Giffen could pencil the regular Legion series, and plot it as well. Levitz can dialog it, so he isn't booted completely.

I'd rather them co-plot together and keep awesome Cinar art.

The current Legion series is actually getting pretty good. Perhaps it did get off to a rocky start with the first two issues, but there was so much to catch up on it was unavoidable.

I want to talk fully about this in a moment, but I'm reading through the Newsarama interview, and...

Giffen: Yes, but you know, it's important to get that right, to make it feel like the future. I used to say that in the 30th Century, if it has wheels, it's wrong. Now, if you push a button, it's wrong.

...GOD. Giffen just GETS it. He gets what writing and drawing the Legion is about.

Ehhhh. That Emerald Empress outfit looks like a Magog hand-me-down. Nostalgia and overfamiliarity are always bound to disappoint.

While the new Emerald Empress definitely would fit well in Kirby's world, it also has a Middle Ages empress flavor that works with the character's name.

I'm not really impressed that Giffen is using a variant his 90s style -- which was a turn off even then. But he is a good layout artist, so here's hoping.

I don't think Giffen has the chops to do it, but I wish DC would hire someone to redesign the Legion uniforms. They are too clunky and Silver Age-inspired for a book that takes place 1,000 years in the future.

To me, Giffen made the LSH in the 80s for me. He had a unique look and design template all his own. I CANT WAIT!!!!!!!

Ex_ is correct. The classic vintage will always correspond better to a "future" than some hamhanded attempt at modernization that looks dated in three years.
