Supergirl should be outselling them all. And you forgot the distant cousin, Power Girl, down around 19K as well as Adventure Comics at 29K.

for the first time in the longest time superman comics arent a mustbuy for me. sure over the years i have been dropping some of the titles but i dont buy any of them off the racks anymore. i pick them later off ebay in lots for cheap dollars. the optimism and joy i once got from reading superman comics has disappeared from the current superman comics

I think DC would be pretty happy with most of those numbers. Superman could well go up if the quality and word-of-mouth is pretty positive in coming months (of course, it might go in the opposite direction too). And 36,000 for a 'Lex Luthor book'? Yeah, they'd like that.

Of all of those, Supergirl is probably the only one that should be selling much better considering the quality of the title.

its very sad. i have been a fan of superman since i was a little kid. my god hes almost like a big brother or uncle in my eyes. i mean i bought comics all through the different periods and styles and artists but so much of what i see in the superman comics isnt superman anymore. its like they have taken the super out of the man. lets have him abandon earth. lets have him walk across america. lets have him struggle to reconnect with the very people he is supposed to be the greater ideal of.

remember when you read a superman comic and it was big and exciting? these days like most things everyone has to explain why things are the way there are. why is superman super? why are the villains bad? was it a trauma in their past that caused them to be that way? lets do a mini series or one shot about it. lets drag it out calling it an epic - like the krypton storyline which went on and on and on to the point you felt like napping on the comic. and then when it all wraps up its so anti-climatic you want to explode and think this? this is what they took a year to build up to?!

for the lack of vision i blame the people at dc. its like everything that could be good has been done before and now they dont know what to do. its like well lets try this and see if it flies with the public?

I remember very well when Superman was big and exciting. Once upon a time, no matter what else came out that week, Superman was the first one I opened. Now, among the ongoing series I get, it's often the last I pick up. Unfortunately I feel this way about most DC comics. It boggles my mind how far DC has gone downhill in such a short time. Going into Infinite Crisis in 2005, DC was firing on all cylinders. You were almost guaranteed an excellent read in pretty much every book they published. Now, a mere five years later, I feel like I'm pretty much guaranteed a disappointing read in pretty much every book. There is still some good stuff, but as a whole, there isn't enough to keep me around. Which is why I'm winding down my new comics buying, and going forward will spend my hard earned money on back issues I've always wanted to read, and where I know I'll get more enjoyment.

i agree. dc pushes out more product than ever before but so little is quality product. much of it just mediocre which is often reflected in the poor sales. i dont think at this point dc really cares because there isnt big money in the actual comic sales anymore. its all about the merchandising and video games/movies/etc.

i used to buy so much dc product off the racks like yourself. these days most of my reading is done at the comic stores or i just look at previews online and sometimes even the previews are enough to make me wanna weep because i keep hearing from dc how committed they are to putting out the best product they possible can and i scratch my head looking at alot of the product and think this cant be true? how can this be the best they can do? of course it only makes sense when you look at the bigger picture and how they are doing so many things at once that people dont have tons of time to work on the various projects. its mass consumption at its very worse.

At least Action Comics is doing well. It's the only S-Book I look forward to reading.

I still have an extremely hard time beliving this is what JMS has to offer Superman after all these years of what he's said about the character.

Really? After the disaster that was New Krypton, I'm finding the newest Superman books to be the best they've been in a long time. JMS's book has been good, but Paul Cornell's Action Comics has been spectacular. Right now it easily ranks amongst DC's top five superhero comics. Definitely worth reading.

Sorry to say it Superman is my fave hero next to WW and he's just not that interesting anymore. His books for the last ten years have dropped cause they can't begin to rejuvenate him and when they try ie WONK...they mess up and it ends up like a slap to the fans that did invest in it.

He's not even in JLA and I use to look forward to him in that if his titles sucked.

Huh Last Family did not do too well. That's a surprise. Might sell better in trade.

I think if Earth One takes off DC will be well pleased.

DC seems lacking Superman fans as writers on the whole. Most of them seem to be gaga over Batman or GL. The passion for SM is simply not there anymore and they make excuses that he is hard to write. Sad really.

    Fixed.

Actually, it's really good for a elseworlds in prestige format. I remember Superman: Red Son was in the same format, and it didn't even reach the top 200 (not a typo).

I agree. It's why I was optimistic about JMS, but it seems like he has little to offer to the DCU Superman, so I look forward to Earth One. I also look forward to what Paul Cornell will do, who said he adores Superman.

DC needs to drop the ego and bring back Mark Waid ASAP.
