Campbell's covers are becoming less and less appealing.

My thoughts exactly, except the opposite.

Yeah, me too. I used to hate Campbell's style (as I hate anime/manga), but over time I've learned to appreciate his skill at characterization and atmosphere (though I'm not a huge fan of how pointy his characters are), which is something a lot of artists lack today.

It's also nice to see the full image of Choi's Loki (which he had a sketch of on his deviantart. I wonder if this is how his art will look on Astonishing Thor (as he won't be collaborating with usual colorist Sonia Oback)...
Someone once told me that time was a predator that stalked us all our lives. I rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey and reminds us to cherish every moment, because it'll never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we've lived. After all, we're only mortal. - Jean-Luc Picard

Is that Polaris I see? I wonder how big her role in this will be.

Campbell is not even close to an anime/manga style. He tried to copy Art Adams 80's art style when he first started out, and was never close to anime/manga to this very day. Here is some of Campbells first published comic book art. 1980's Art Adams influenced not cartoons of any kind, including Japan cartoons.

True, but there is still some manga influence in Campbell's style. He's talked about the Masamune Shirow influence in his work before, though Art Adams' style is the biggest surface influence, as is Jim Lee, who Campbell mentored under.

I think the digital inking has taken away from Campbell's style. His characters lack some of the weight they used to have. My opinion of his covers vary from one to the other. This is a good one.

I like Campbell's cover, but it's a mish mash of everything that has happend to and in Thor's universe. He's sitting on Odin's throne? He's holding his fan favorite axe-hammer, but is not sporting the cool belt but his current one. He has the full beard and no goatee. No fingerless gloves. In other words, it's the current Thor look, just not holding the stone hammer. Enchantress and Valkerie are next to him, but both of them just met a certain fate in New Ultimates #3. I don't get what his cover is trying to say other than Campbell thought throwing all this random stuff together would be cool?

I like that Campbell cover. Funny, because I thought I'd like Choi's more.
