I was kinda wondering where the spikes on the back went as well... Maybe Kubo was uncomfortable with the idea that Ichigo can't shank someone and take his sword out without utterly destroying the portion of their body he stabbed.

Of course, he knows where to get Orihime, so why'd he even care?

Liking that Urahara got outwitted for once.

Not liking those guys in the 12th division going all 'Ichigo's coming! We're saved!' It gives the impression that the whole SS is useless without Ichigo, which is something Kubo's been able to avoid surprisingly well until now.

I'm pretty sure she got even more messed up in her first fight, when she discovered her powers. Also, Loli beat her up pretty badly, and I'm pretty sure Yammi smacked her aside once, too. Oh, and her spirit got a pretty nasty bite from her brother's hollow. If anything, she got off light this time.

So, she does get injured from time to time. Still haven't lost an arm, though.

Yeah, while it can be argued they really need all the help they can get due to the fact they're getting outright destroyed out there so they called out someone who has done pretty insane stuff beyond their own expectations, it's sounds a little too desperate.

Nevertheless, Soul Society (and by that, I mean Gotei 13 Officers, forget the red shirts) has managed to pull its weight a good number of times so I wouldn't say they depend on Ichigo that badly. These series of events are just something that seriously caught them off guard and well...If they met an unstoppable force that's broken so far, I'd say pull out the gun (aka Ichigo) that can give an asspull of its own to counter that.

...Though after a massacre that is continuing to grow, I guess I wouldn't blame them that badly to consider they are hopeless without Ichigo, who may be the best way to give them a fighting chance.

...But that's just me to say so opinions vary.

For the longest I haven't been a real big fan of SS so to see them getting beat like this is kind of bitter sweet. Kubo did say that this was gonna be a massive arc so I think we are probably about to reach the climax or half way point of the 1st part...... And to think we haven't seen Isshin, Ishadia(father and son), The Royal Guard,Grimy, or those two bodies from that lab. It's going to be a fun next 3+ years

I hope that it's just Kubo being lazy or forgetful because I really like the new design.
