It's not just the broken nature of "LOL I CAN STEAL YOUR ENERGY" that bothers me. These quincy's are literally sucking up your soul to fire back at others.
Souls are....special. It's what a person is, it's who you are, it's you. When you die if you are good your soul is pampered. If you are bad your soul is not pampered. If this happens you are used to make a bullet to shoot at other beings ( that you might not even have ever heard of or done anything to! ) and if that happens you lose.....you.

And let me back up and say I know I might argue stuff that I don't support just to practice doing it but I'm really serious this time. There won't be any jokes later ( okay there will be jokes just not that kind ) so...yeah...don't expect that kinda discussion this kind.

It genuinely scares the crap out of me to think some angry nazi archers can use and destroy the only part of me that's meant to be eternal.

All the posters that are supporting the poor downtrodden quincy's must be confused about what they actually do*

Well.... when they kill hollows the soul is completely destroyed as opposed to purified.

So as far as staying who you are..... the only real option is to win outright, even if they didn't have that particular move.

Granted, it makes winning a lot more difficult but..... the consequences for losing would be the same. (Assuming the destruction of the soul isn't some sort of hollow specific thing.)

He starts to peal apart Chad and Orihime.

They are going to be fighting in the Shinigami realm where the walls, the floors, the people are all spirit particles.

So when they start reaching out for energy and they dissect the souls of those around them for power that means that these immortal souls that are supposed to be reincarnated.....are now bullets.

They aren't killing their opponents, they are destroying who they are at a conceptual level.

And that is just all sorts of fucked up to my sentiments.

Appreciate the backup there Haz-mat. But you got it dead to rights....it's the fact that the soul. The very eternal essence of what and who you are is converted into....a bullet.

Really I'm a bit surprised that holy spirit didn't pick up on the soul implications. I honestly expected someone that has pretty much said "i wouldn't read a manga that had a demon as the good guy because demons are inherently evil" to be a bit more on my level when it came to destroying God's gift to mankind.

Probably. I guess it depends on whether or not you consider that hell tie-in chapter canon. Considering that Hollows are all composite beings of those they've devoured, yet upon dying, Szayel and Aaronierro didn't split up into all the guys they'd eaten to get where they were at...

Well even then Kubo could say that the Shinigamification process altered where they went. Way back in the early chapter where that serial killer went to hell he went as a human soul not as a hollow, so if those guys were still arrancar they may be considered different enough from hollows to have their own souls (which would be in line with their presentation since they were presented as so very human-like just led astray and with bones sticking out weird places).

As for this Quincies potentially broken attack, I don't have a problem with it if this guy is this arc's ulq. If he is essentially an elite mook like on the comparative level of Grimmjow's fraction or Yami and everyone above him can do it (and probably have better versions) than that might be tough to write around.

I get it, it's just.... I don't see how that is worse than what a Quincy would be doing to you anyway.

If a quincy kills you with an arrow.... your soul stops existing all together.

If a qunicy kills you with the spirit slavery.... your soul gets broken down into base spirit particles then reformed into an arrow.

Either way your existence as you are is over, it's just that with the latter your energy is used for something else... but you're already no more by that point so.... it's all the same to you.



In other words.... I see it as the difference between getting killed and your body decomposing into nothing..... verses getting killed and somebody cremates your body into ash. Except in this case it's your soul dying instead of your body and you're turned into arrows instead of ash.


So the tragedy in my eyes is that your supposedly immortal soul.... is no more. What happens after that point is salt in the wound.... but the wound is the only reason the salt matters in the first place...... if that makes any sense.

Yeah i have to agree, the very nature of Quinces powers is just downright monstrous. With each chapter it makes more and more sense that Shinigami killed those monsters.
