Well, they were beating up Matsumoto quite easily in their unreleased form. And Hinamori claimed that each of them were much stronger than her. So they'd probably be somewhat above vice-captain level but not quite captain level.

Anyway, the fact that they haven't used their Resurrection or Ayon makes me think that they aren't quite beaten yet. Resurrection can heal their wounds.


On the other hand, is it possible that the Quincies have a way of sealing/stealing an arrancars Resurrection? Hence, why they haven't used it.

Szayel was still a member of the Espada; one of Aizen's personal liutenants. He was basically a boss character, albeit not a very important one.

True enough. Szayel just seemed to match the description.

...I just kind of realised that Grimmjow and Ulquiorra were the only Espada that were important in and of themselves. The rest were only really important as a larger group to counter the Gotei 13.
