S'going on holy. I instantly thought of you when I started reading these posts. I kinda had to put the new guy through the steps because if I didn't do it to him then I would have been rude because I only did it to you.

It comes from a deep seated belief in treating others equally.

Ah.... thoughtful.

I caught this little tid bit at the end and wanted to respond. I'm fairly certain it's pointless..... but whatever. Here it goes.

I finally figured out how to phrase my confusion / issue with holy's style.

Reading manga / watching anime only for the big explosions and fight scenes is like watching a porno for the plot ( like the juxtaposition there? ).

Err.... there really isn't much plot to speak of in porn. As in.... at all.

There are plenty of fights/action/hot chicks in manga/anime. It's fun! Plus, why can't watching fights be fun simply for it's own sake? I see it less like watching porn for plot and more like.... watching MMA with superpowers except plot is the driving force behind the fighting instead of money. It's what I want and what I look for in this type of thing.

Generally speaking..... if I want plot I look at drama, if I want to laugh I look at comedy, if I want to be scared I look at horror etc, etc.

This doesn't mean the plot can't be a nice bonus if it's good. But I see it more as icing on my cake as oppose to the cake itself.





Speaking of confusion...... what I don't understand is why my enjoyment of manga bothers you as much as it does simply because I don't enjoy it the same way you do? This is what we do for entertainment in our free time.


I mean.... I can't speak for SonOf D but..... that's how I feel in a nut shell. You can take it or leave it but I will tell you this..... it's not going to change any time soon. *shrug*

But...that's not what he said. He said that he was bored because Aizen wouldn't die. Holy Spirit loved Aizen's "Doesn't work because POWER!" schtick.

Indeed, the guy's complain is that various points in the story are dumb, while Holy Spirit's complain is that there's too much story in his fight scenes.

You're basically looking at two guys on opposite sides of an argument and saying that they're the same.
If you're going to stereotype and troll newcomers, you should do it properly!

They are there, hell 10 years ago a way to pass the time for me and some friends was sitting around making fun of the plots.

S'weird, I was on the opposite side of this debate over dead fantasy. I championed the idea that enjoying the fantastic fights without having to worry about a tacked on storyline was a perfectly reasonable thing to do.

The way you read a manga seems to be like this
Page 1 = Fight.
Page 2 = Fight.
Page 3 = Half naked woman
Page 4 = Fight.
Page 5 = Fight.
Page 6 = Half naked woman
Page 7,8 = Splash page of half naked woman

etc.


That's......weird to me. Why would want to read that?

To me...you wouldn't....having a little bit of info about why they are fighting helps me find out who I want to root for to win. Half naked women honestly I don't care about either way, there's hentai, real porn, or a roofy means I can enjoy half or full nudity in the way God intended.

And that is why I enjoy picking at you. Actively ignoring the plot means missing out on details like the Gotei gov. being set back up ( son's recent example ), you don't get to enjoy rooting for a character because you believe in them.

Well yes you can root for someone based on appearance only but that's rather.....shallow?

Let me ask....who do you root for when you don't care about why they are fighting? Doesn't that mean that you could conceivably be rooting for a satan worshipping racist that wants to rape children to death?

I mean.... I can't speak for SonOf D but..... that's how I feel in a nut shell. You can take it or leave it but I will tell you this..... it's not going to change any time soon. *shrug*

All because I absolutely love people watching. Poking, prodding, finding out how people react to things, finding out why people think things.
It's a great fun for me. And normally works out find except when I test boundaries and accidentally break down walls instead of gently pressing on them.

I throw them in the same basket because it makes more fun later to have to backtrack and single out how they are different.

Anybody else wonder if Zangetsu (the spirit) looks different now that Ichigo's zanpakuto has a new form or if Ichigo got his vizard powers back along with the rest of his abilities.

Hmm...on the one hand Zangetsu was the spirit of the sword and didn't change when Ichigo went from zanpacman, to shikai, and finally bankai so there's precedent for the sword's spirit to be a separate entity from itself.

But.......that seems contrary to the intrinsically connected nature of the spirit and sword.

I suppose it all matters if the change was a superficial one ( no change ) or if the sword was altered to it's core ( zangetsu is now a half naked woman ).

I'm also doubting the vaizard powers.
Really what would he need them for?

To be faster? Flash step seems fine.
For ranged attacks? Ichigo's got that covered and kido also seems fine.
Defense increases? ........Dude, we're talking Ichigo here. The best defense is a good offense is tattoo'd on his soul.
To get in Riruika's box? Been there, done that.

Are we basing this on the way the other fullbringers used his power to enhance their own?

If we are then I can argue that the reinforcement and empowerment is a fullbringer ability exclusively.

It was never really outright stated but I am making an educated guess based on a few things.

First of all Grimmjow's comments during their first fight. He basically said that Ichigo's bankai was shit because it only made him faster, implying that he lacked the power needed to actually fight against him. With the vizard mask on Ichigo was beating the shit out of Grimmjow via power and speed.

Then during the final battle against Ulquiorra Ichigo could only barely give the guy a tiny little cut with a direct hit. Vizard mask goes on and Ichigo almost breaks Ulquiorra's sword and Ully needs to runs outside so that he can go all out against Ichigo.

Stuff like that basically.

I can't remember him being in possession of both the Vzard and the Shini powers at the same time......

Being a vizard means that you have a mix of shinigami and hollow powers, the hollow powers coming from the mask.

Are we basing this on the way the other fullbringers used his power to enhance their own?

If we are then I can argue that the reinforcement and empowerment is a fullbringer ability exclusively.

I wasn't even thinking about the fullbringer powers. Hell, I think he's lost them completely at this point and I'm very grateful for that.

The costume was stupid, just as Kubo intended.

I think I see that you and I are just..... polar opposites in this. I like seeing other peoples views and why they think that way while giving my opinion on stuff.

Hey, I do give my honest opinion. Right now is my honest opinion about ignoring the storyline to focus on the pretty pictures.

It's like....... I can't talk to you. Well.... I can but.... it doesn't mean anything because it's empty on your end.

The only reason I can post the way I do is because I have to come up with a genuine idea to support ( genunie =/= has to be taken as granite ) or go against.

Another personal tick of mine is that I'm serious when I claim to be serious and will be serious if it's requested.

I genuinely believe that reading a manga just for the violence is like watching two guys fight ( a really good fight ) on the street.
It's just violence for it's own sake.

I genuinely believe that knowing something about the people fighting, why they are fighting, the little plot details enhances my enjoyment of the event.

Watching a basketball game on tv is fun and exciting.......watching a basketball game you have money on ( plot knowledge ) is an edge of your seat experience that is far more entertaining and engaging than without it.

Does that analogy get across why I think you and son might enjoy the fighting more if you actually cared about the people involved?
