Otherwise,
Aizen got put in time-out with his favorite toy. Does that make any sense?

i know with all the discssion of plot, these things almost rearely get noticed, but i just wanna say...
this chapter was GORGEOUS. i love when kubo gets slppy and more energetic.
"i love you daddy" and all of a sudden it's the best day of my life
also, in the end ichigo became strider hiryu for no reason. if uraharas kido wouldve activated sooner ichigo wouldntve had to lose his powers
"i love you daddy" and all of a sudden it's the best day of my life
It was only meant to activate when Aizen was weakened sufficiently. Ichigo didn't do that till after he used the ultimate getsuga tenshou. Setting aside what I see to be the plothole with Gin stabbing Aizen, and setting aside how Ichigo fought since it's irrelevant to the topic here, Aizen was not weakened sufficiently for Urahara's kido to activate till that point.

i didnt get that feeling at all...all urahara said was "it finally activated"
"i love you daddy" and all of a sudden it's the best day of my life
You make an interesting point. Ichigo still has hollow powers. (He may have been so caught up with Mugetsu he forgot...not to mention he doesn't really like them). But maybe he'll end up developing those more now.
Couldn't find a good picture of Aizen to put it, but...

On the subject of the hollow powers...
What the hell would they have done against Aizen? I mean, the guy (in that form) was strong enough to not get one-shotted by someone who sliced a mountain in half as the aftereffect of his slice.
Now, why they didn't just kill Aizen when he reverted to Shinigami form, instead of sealing him, I have no clue.
Suffering is a fact of life. You survive if you find a reason to endure it.
I think being fused with the Hogyoku still prevents him from dying. It's just not powering him up anymore.
edit: Reread the chapter...Urahara seemed did the whole sealing thing because he didn't think they could kill Aizen. And since he was still regenerating, despite losing power, makes me think that even though the Hogyoku doesn't like him now, they're still fused. I think it's for the Hogyoku saying "we might still be in this together, but hell if I'm going to wank you out anymore after such an epic failure".

If this really is the end of Aizen then it certainly isn't the way I thought he'd go out. I was kind of hoping we'd see Ichigo do more in his Getsuga form.

That was a great chapter. But damn it felt short. oO
Thing is, a Vaizard is specifically a hollowfied shinigami. Essentially approaching the Shinigami/Hollow hybrid from the Shinigami direction, whereas the Arrancar approach it from the hollow direction.
So, if you remove the shinigami part of the equation then all you have left is the hollow part, and I rather doubt you can be half human, half hollow. IOW, Ichigo would turn into a full-on hollow if he tried to go vaizard mode now, and I don't think that would be a good thing.
