    Default CBR: Kubert Teases "Flashpoint"

Andy Kubert spoke with CBR News about "Flashpoint," the 2011 Flash-centric mega event he's illustrating for DC Comics, and discussed Dan DiDio's musings about his desire to see Kubert draw a Damian Wayne mini.

Super excited for Flashpoint. This is going to be epic. The Flash is getting his very own GL-style Star Wars trilogy.

Honestly, Flash: Rebirth could have been *Better* but still laid the foundations for better stories to follow.

Loving the new Flash ongoing title and hope Flashpoint lives up to it's potential. Kubert is a great artist so that's a plus and Geoff clearly knows and loves his Flash universe characters.
"You can't trust them as poets either. The true poet is anonymous, as to his habits, but these boys have to look, act, and apparently smell like poets"
    Flannery O'Connor on the beats.

This thread should be called Kubert utterly fails to tease "Flashpoint". That article had literally nothing in it. Just Andy Kubert saying "I can't say anything" basically.

I agree. What was the point of this except to say we can't tell you anything?

Oh come on. You've obviously read the series and the tie ins. There must be some redeeming feature? That cover to #4 for example. I mean like, WOW!

Looks like Barry is the key figure at least at first and the story deals with alternate timelines or universes.

Interesting, but shouldn't this be the time to bring the other members to the forefront?

I've never been a particular fan of Andy Kubert's work, but I think his static figure drawing style is particularly ill-suited to a book about speedsters.

Doesn't sound like a year is enough lead time for Kubert to get done. His brand of chicken scratch sketches takes a least a week per page afterall. Yeah yeah, he is a legendary great artist, blah blah blah. Just be sure to add "use to be" when defending him as his art over the last several years has been utter crap that you look at and can't believe he was months behind on completing considering how bad it looks. You just get the feeling he procrasinates, goes "oh crap the deadline! I forgot" and throws something out real quick hoping the colorist, etc can salvage something from it. Any case, I suspect we will be hearing about fill in artists and issues about halfway through the Flashpoint storyarc.

    ?

I can't defend his lateness, but his work throughout the Morrison Batman run and Whatever Happened... was fantastic. Probably the best looking work of his career. He is a total superstar, one of my favorites in the industry.

Projects like Flashpoint and side miniseries are the way to go with him at this point. I am really excited for Flashpoint and the potential Damian mini, which I would imagine is happening since it would be stupid for DiDio to purposely bring it up out of nowhere.

I am looking forward to Flashpoint, and I love the current Flash series, but that interview told us absolutely nothing! What a waste of time.
