The most important members of the BOP?

Who are the most important members of the Birds of Prey? Who are the core of the team? The ones that define the BOP as such? Canary? Oracle? Huntress? Dove?

With all due respect to Huntress and Lady Blackhawk, Oracle and Black Canary are the core of the BoP (and carried the title for 56 issues until Gail added the Huntress). The fact the book seemed to be going in no direction once they removed Black Canary says a lot.

This. Huntress makes a pretty decent foil for the others more traditional heroics and Blackhawk provides a useful support function (on top of being an awesome character) but neither one of them are really necessary. Heck, I think the argument could be made that Power Girl is more important to the series than those two and she left before the comic started.

I don't get how it can be argued that it's anyone but the Oracle and Black Canary's book. They did everything important in the opening arc while the other characters mainly just provided backup.

It seams so far that the decision to remove Black Canary from the BOP was one of the main reasons why the book was later canceled.

Do you think the recent proliferation of ''Oracle's''(Batwoman's dad, proxy in Batgirl, Powergirls employee, Manhunter's gadget man, resident scientists in Teen Titans), is a result of BOP success?

Black Canary and Oracle. Huntress, while cool, isn't as essential to the mix as they are. Even with the awesome guest-shots, the book really lost something when Dinah left. Mahunter was a poor replacement, IMO.

But everyone brings something to the mix, even....urggh....Misfit. They just aren't nearly as important as Dinah and Babs.

It's Oracle and Black Canary, but honestly, I love Lady Blackhawk. She remains a big part of why I enjoy the series so much.

I thought I was the only one who didn't like Misfit. I mean she's not as bad as she was when she came out but she's pretty far from a top 20 for me.

Other guest star operatives can come and go, but I really don't think of it as BoP without Black Canary, Oracle, Huntress and Lady Blackhawk. So, I'd say those four and anyone else Gail wants to rotate in storywise.

I gotta say I did like Gypsy and Infinity showing up in Gail's stories. It's interesting to see other character's reactions to the "star" Birds.

I'm a new reader, just 4 issues in, and I can even say, without a doubt, that Black Canary and Oracle are the most important members. Without either, I probably wouldn't enjoy the series or the team as much. Maybe a better question would be who are the least important members of the BOP? I have an answer for that, too.
