Well assuming we lose the current cast which I don t think is likely until cancellation.

Just bump up some of the background characters like Lyra, spidergirl, powerman and thunderstrike.

Honestly I wish we had a clear idea of what is coming down the pipeline. At this rate we we won't know until December which sucks

What other Marvel kids are out there, unaffiliated? My guess is by the end of this storyline, we won't have most of these kids any more. And new books like volume 3 of New Avengers just may take whoever is still alive at the end of Final Exam. If thats the case, we will need to replenish the academy. That is of course if there is still a Academy book in NOW.
Well, in terms of teens, there's the former Young Avengers, the former Young Allies, and the former Young X-Men. Aside from Laura, I don't see any of the Young X-Men going to the Academy. Spider-Girl, sadly, is the only Young Ally who would fit at the school. Firestar and Gravity are too old to be students there, Toro doesn't seem interested in superheroics, and Nomad is dead, which really sucks, because she was a cool character. Of the Young Avengers, Wiccan is already going to be doing something, and none of the others seem like they would actually want to go to the Academy.

I don't think Marvel would split up the Runaways, and none of them really belong there, anyway. So they're probably out.

If you're trying to figure out what characters could possibly end up in the Academy, the Initiative is probably the best place to start.

I thought one Nomad was dead but the OTHER Rikki Barnes was still around - she was in the last Spider-Girl mini (the one with the Red Hulk) as a peripheral character.

Nope. Rikki's dead. She wasn't in the Spider-Girl series. Because she was dead, you see.

    Which really does suck.

    I'm sorry, but you're mistaken.

The only question is if this is before or after Onslaught Unleashed.

They'd have to make a mess of the timeline for this to fit. LL is too young to be Strikers father, especially when you take into account that he was already a young adult when he got his powers.

    Peace

I stand corrected, but that sorta has to be pre-Onslaught Unleashed, since she's dead. There was no other Rikki "Nomad" Barnes to replace her.

By the mid-'90s, she was getting bigger, and most artists draw her positively stacked. And in general, artists still enjoy focusing on tits and ass. There's still plenty of unnatural body positions that allow showing both at once.

So I do kinda agree that it would be nice to have a good female superhero who isn't used for sex appeal. Because right now, it's hard to think of many, and fewer still that get any real love. Finesse and White Tiger aren't really used for sex appeal, but AA is a pretty low-selling book. The female superheroes with some mainstream appeal are the ones in sexy outfits who are being sexy.

Oh hey there, I guess Nico counts towards the non-sexualized females in comics thing, too?

Lord knows they won't be doing much at Wolverine's overrated school of shoving them in the background!

*(Insert another one of my obligatory Cassie Lang whining here)*

But oh snap, I dismissed an earlier comment about AA ending with #40, but... The more I think about it...

    1. A somewhat unclear comment implied that some Loners characters would be involved in something new.
    2. All the remaining Loners are currently at Avengers Academy (well, not counting Phil over in ASM and Namie/Red Ronin hasn't been seen).
    3. Let's extrapolate based on the fact that there's only one issue of Avengers Academy in October 2012 solits...

    #38 - October
    #39 - November
    #40 - December (earlier)
#1 Replacement Teen Title - December (mid-month or later)

    It could happen.

Maybe one of O5.
This could just be my incredibly myopic focus of the X-Verse, but... Generation X ran from 1994 to 2001, that's seven years and 75 issues (not counting specials, annuals, etc.). How is that not their longest running teen book...? The teams you mention were only around for a few years each, right? *does some checking* Oh, the original New Mutants book was 1983-1991, that's eight years and 100 issues, my bad. But New X-Men was only 2004-2008, as far as I know.

Anyway, as for X-Kids being in the December teen book, it's possible X-23 and Loa were being positioned into the Avengers Academy for just that purpose (not that I don't believe Loa stuck around for the rad waves, as surfers are always looking for new and different surfing opportunities, but... it did feel kind of random, don'chaknow). I mean, X-23's involvement probably predates any specific Marvel NOW planning, but does anyone think they're going to pass up the opportunity to put Wolverine Girl on that December teen title? They freakin' love Wolvie and for better or worse (mostly better), X-23 is generally regarded as Wolvie Girl. As much as I wish Penance/Hollow would get more involved in things, it's probably not going to be her.

Well... I really only know about mutants, but... Nicole and Claudette St. Croix; they've probably aged to pre-teen or early teen by now (they were 8 during Generation X's run). And Gaia's still running around warping reality at will, having a blast. Lol. She's been a teenager for, like, thousands of years, so she's probably still one now. ;D Namie a.k.a. the sexy Japanese Red Ronin cyborg is MIA, though probably back at Fujikawa Industries by now. The Runaways are, by definition, unaffiliated. Oh! The NYX kids are probably still unaffiliated, too, and have a story link to X-23.

But have you seen the cast of Avengers Academy #21...? If they wanted to change up the cast of Avengers Academy, all they have to do is bring some of those many, many background characters into the forefront, like JaggedFel mentioned.

Marvel already said that SOME of the Runaways characters would appear in a title in Marvel NOW (honestly, I'm way behind in reading all the Marvel NOW coverage, too), so...

    http://www.comicsalliance.com/2012/0...#ixzz20YY3dmtA

"On the Runaways front, Singh responded to a question by pointing out that many Runaways characters will be in a new ongoing series not called Runaways. He provided a similar answer to a question about the future of the characters from Secret Warriors."

Oh, and the actual answers, the way he said them, are here:
    http://investcomics.com/market-talk/...-highlights-qa

    Q: Runaways?

A: “Some Runaways will have a major role in an upcoming new ongoing series not called Runaways. You’ll find out more by September.” – Arune Singh

Q: Will we see the Secret Warriors?

A: “Remember that ongoing book not called Runaways with some Runaways? It will not be called Secret Warriors, but you will see some Secret Warriors there.” – Arune Singh

Keep in mind that December solits come out in September. So they will probably be in the December teen book, along with some Secret Warriors characters.

    Here's a question:

    Issue 38.

Now, Final Exam is said to be pretty heavy. Will it happen like a normal issue? Be done all in flashback, as the school isn't open and could get the whole cast for it? Could it even be a entering death hallucination to ease a dying character to accept death (ala Gen 13)? Will Issue 37 properly handle all the heavy stuff?

    Just spitballing ideas.
