This week's Axel in Charge reveals who the new instructor is ...

and it's none other than Hawkeye. Very, very excited about this, as Clint used to be my favorite character. If there's anyone other than McCann I trust to get what used to be Marvel's best character right, it's Gage.

The only way this news could be better would be if they decide they don't want him in too many books and take him out of Avengers, thus ending Bendis' ongoing campaign to utterly destroy the character.

Loved the panel in AiC that showed the Whackos all together (it said it was Avengers Solo, but I have to guess it was really AA art, considering their upcoming solicitations). Still not pleased a Whacko will be killed off, but Simon being in character -- and that panel -- almost makes it worthwhile. Maybe it'll be Machine Man; he or Living Lightning would probably upset me the least.

Kinda expected that to happen when they said West Coast Avenger.
And that IS Avengers solo. Academy is the backup story.

Assuming he doesn't leave Avengers (and I assume he won't since he'll be in the movie), that means he'll be in 3 Avenger books counting solo. That's pretty impressive for a non-A list character.

Not shocking I suppose... again, the character will be in the movie. So pushing him hard does make sense. I do wonder if he'll be given the same criticism that Spider-Man and Wolverine get for being in multiple books, or if he'll be immune since he's not actually a cash cow.

Avengers Solo is a mini though.

And where are his purple shades in the preview art?

Maybe he keeps the old school costume in Academy.

Yes I love the new costume. Did you see the cover for the issue of Ghost Rider coming out in December drawn by Stefano Caselli? He draws a badass Hawkeye in his new costume. I'd love to see Yost & Caselli on an Avengers title.

I hate Hawkeye well at least the 616 version but unlike some posters one character does not turn me off a whole team book
