Default CBR: Wallace Writes the "Titans" of the DCU

Writer Eric Wallace spoke with CBR about bringing former Teen Titan Arsenal to the villain-centric "Titans," tying into the ongoing events of "Brightest Day" and the coming reckoning over the death of Ryan Choi.

I'm glad Mr. Wallace thinks that just having a reaction to the death of Ryan Choi is enough of a good sign.

Even though just because we're aware and complaining certainly doesn't mean those same people are actually BUYING the book.

And I would think the interviewer might also want to ask the writer how he feels knowing the "Ryan Choi" that was killed was never drawn as asian. Instead being blue eyed and having brown hair, how does he feel thinking that no one thinks Choi is actually dead because the artist didn't know how to even draw the character?

Note: They don't really talk about Ryan Choi, just more "Oh hey I killed him because I want to tell the bestest stories evar."
"but the 616 is set in America."

DC has such a great attitude

"Any reaction is a good reaction!"

Not when the reaction is being appalled at what horrible storytelling methods and writing were employed in a story that took a cool character and killed him meaninglessly.

Then there's the fact that he claims he was surprised that Ryan Choi fans were upset that he killed off Ryan Choi.

Wow! What a clever interpretation of the characters! No wonder they're so timeless!

This dude Wallace is just clueless. Where did he come from? How did he first get work with DC? The only other thing I can remember him working on was the Tattooed Man mini.
He's a staff writer on Eureka, and got recommended by (I think) John Rogers.

as a result of the ending of "Titans" issue #27, you can pretty much see that things are going to get much worse for them before they get better - especially for Roy.

After that interview, I'm now convinced that Wallace plans on having some big reveal about Choi not being dead.

I'll keep following the series to see what happens with Roy. I'm intrested in seeing where this path is going to take him.

God I hope so. Though it will undoubtedly be clichéd, not having Choi dead would be worth it.

When the hell did they kill Choi? All I saw was some white guy with brown hair and blue eyes cosplaying as Ryan Choi.

Cool and sexy? Cheshire? This is my very first post on CBR, but for those of you who might know me from somewhere else I apologize if I'm repeating myself.

Chesh was blackmailed into joining the Secret Six under threat of Lian's life. So what did she do? Have sex with Catman to conceive a replacement child, then sold out the Six and left.

Yeah. She's a smoking hot goddess, that Miss Nguyen.
