CBR: Jock Joins Snyder On "Detective"

With DC Comics' namesake title's relaunch, "Losers" artist Jock joins up and comer Scott Snyder for the mysterious "Black Mirror" arc and both tell CBR why a down and dirty yet high tech Dark Knight is around the corner.

YES! This is awesome. I was a little hesitant about Snyder's Tec run until I saw the artist but I'm really confident now. Jock drew a killer Batman in his Batwoman arc.

I was on the fence about picking this up. I think this announcement may have tipped me over the edge. Jock is a phenomenal artist and one thing for sure. Can't wait to see more of his Batman. I loved how Jock used him on the first couple pages of his arc with Batwoman. He's just in the background of Panels and blends into the general background. Can't wait to play more "Where's Waldo" with Jock's art.

The only question now is will the duo deliver the kind of stories we want to read? On paper this sounds like an excellent idea -- Scott's an exciting new writer on the scene being given a huge opportunity and Jock is one of the great designers/illustrators in comics today. The combo should be golden. I'm on board to check this out.

Is it just me or does it seem like the Batman universe is becoming kind of like a "prestige" area to work in. Lots of great artists and authors seem to be passing through more and more often.

Clearly, Morrison has elevated the line and infused it with so many new ideas and creativity that it's the place to be in DC.

I figured with the new titles in November Tec might get a little cramped out or reduced to a second or even third tier title. But right now I'm looking forward to this only second to Batman Inc. Hi-tech, stripped down, psychological, Commisioner Gordon back-up, an overarching throughline, "the Black Mirror"....it all sounds pretty cool.
