Just received Parker: The Score and will be getting my pre-order of Hellboy Library Edition Vol. 5 on Monday from Amazon. Picked up Captain Britain Omnibus from LCS and Squadron Supreme Omnibus from Amazon Marketplace (shipping from UK to VA, USA so I imagine this will take a few weeks). Cool thread.

Batman: Black Mirror and Birds of Prey: Sensei and Student

I did not know that Commissioner Gordon had a son... and a serial killer at that. As for the other, I liked the dynamic between the women in the story. Cheshire would be an interesting villain to elevate to the next level in this type of book.

I really liked this. The comics artwork were interesting takes on the different eras and its funny to see how pretty much everyone changes except for the main character. Not too many extras except for the intro with bonus artwork but the book is jam packed with stories so thats good. Amazon dinged up my copy a little but its a very durable book. The parodies of characters and eras were very well written and there were so many in jokes that casual readers will miss. Overall, a great buy and I give it an 8.9/10 ( Just docking that 1.1 for having few extras, the simpsons/futurama crossover hardcover had so many that I was dissapointed by this having almost none)

Just got Neil Gaiman's Midnight Days Deluxe HC delivered. And also Zeina Abirached's A Game For Swallows (but then in Dutch) which was recently released in English translated from French, with an excellent deal for just EUR 5.99. Really cool looking book in the style of Marjane Satrapi's Persepolis.

When Zeina was born, the civil war in Lebanon had been going on for six years, so it's just a normal part of life for her and her parents and her little brother. The city of Beirut is cut in two, separated by bricks and sandbags and threatened by snipers and shelling. East Beirut is for Christians, and West Beirut is for Muslims. When Zeina's parents don't return one afternoon from a visit to the other half of the city, and the bombing grows ever closer, the neighbors in her apartment house create a world indoors for Zeina and her brother where it's comfy and safe, where they can share cooking lessons and games and gossip. Together they try to make it through a dramatic day in the one place they hoped they would always be safehome. Zeina Abirached, born into a Lebanese Christian family in 1981, has collected her childhood recollections of Beirut in a warm story about the strength of family and community.
Can't wait to read both books!
