I remember reading my dad's Origins of Marvel Comics, Sons of Origins, and Bring on the Bad Guys, and I remember being really angry that one of the reprints of a Thor issue had him face the Absorbing Man for much of it instead of Loki. i felt ripped off of a potentially cool fight. XD

You should have thought of it as a bonus bad guy!

As much as I love Loki as a villain, I adore what Gillen is currently doing with kid Loki in JIM. There’s so much development potential for him without compromising the manipulative/mischievous side integral to the character.

Loki could make an excellent anti-hero,as a trickster and manipulator,but not outright evil.More like a Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck prankster.

Loki's always been my favorite Marvel villain too, maybe because I was so into mythology as a kid. The Loki of myth wasn't just a god of evil, he was also a trickster and had his good side - he was the one who gave mankind fire, if I remember correctly. As much as I like the stories where he's an antagonist, I really like it when Marvel plays up the trickster side of him. A little while back, Dan Slott teased us with the idea of him joining Henry Pym's Avengers. I would have LOVED to see him do it, just to prove to Thor that he could do the job far more easily than his brother could... His story with Spider-Man was also great, it was neat to see the side of him that cares about his wayward children.

His current role as a de-aged kid trying to do the right thing is a great change. I get the feeling from the last issue that it will be short-lived, but I hope Marvel continues showing him as morally ambiguous.

I feel they threw away a lot of good work when they turned loki into a kid. for years Loki was considered a very campy villain and was only now finally getting rid of all the decay from years of bad writing. but now its all gone to try and go in some weird new direction. It feels forced
