    Default CBR: CCI: Chris Claremont

The legendary X-Men writer held court over a sprawling Q&A session at Comic-Con that ranged from his earliest days at Marvel to his latest issues of "X-Men Forever." CBR was there to get you the details.

Ah Chris Claremont. Even after all these years he makes for some very colorful commentary. Say what you will about his writing, the man obviously loves what he does and he has a great sense of fun. However, I don't believe for a second that Kitty Pryde was just asking for a 'kiss' in X-men #165.

Great guy that Claremont is. Truly a legend to the X-men, next to Stan and Kirby.

I hope he knows just how much people love him for what he's done.

On Joss Whedon's writing on "Astonishing X-Men": "I think he's a great director."

I have a lot of fanboy love for CC and his work on UXM from issue 94-277. However, I do not understand his beef with Joss. Joss's run was a love letter to Claremont's run.

I think Claremont would prefer he still got more acclaim and had a writing position on one of the leading X-Books rather than being consigned to the 'Forever' books, as opposed to Joss getting acclaim for writing one of the most recently acclaimed runs.

Concerning Whedon part I would blame more on the person asking the question. If he had said that without someone asking would be another thing.

He said Joss was "great", it's hardly a scathing dig.

Yeah, I don't really see how Claremont was being disrespectful or anything along those lines.

Despite all of his bad luck with books like the new exiles and x-men forever, chris claremont still is a lovely man and will always remain one of the best writers in x-history. He even got into the guinness book of world records for his work on x-men 1 (the 90s series), the best selling comic in the whole world.

I do not agree with CC completely. I do agree that he shouldn't comment on Whedon's terrible comic book writing if he has nothing nice to say, but I don't think that Whedon is a great director. Avengers is going to look like a television movie.
