Good lord, look at that line-up of creators. When I heard about this anthology being announced, I wondered if they'd get some big names.

    And they sure did.

"next year"? What friggin time next year!!!!! Must calm down, must calm down. And be thankful, very thankful that a project this special is happening.
This is too much, definitely the best news I've heard from Comic-Con.

Aw jeez, I had no idea Dave Sevens had passed away. That sucks.

This new Rocketeer project does look awesome though.

Glad to see some of the profits from this are going to a cause Dave would've endorsed.

Would've gotten this anyway with the great Rocketeer and line up of creators.

    Can't wait. Great news.

    I'm mixed about this.

The Rocketeer was such an incredibly personal project -- truly Dave Stevens "baby" --that it's hard to associate the character with anyone other than him. I've got some misgivings about other creators taking the character on, as I fear they'll really muff it up.

Still, that they're going to donate some of the proceeds to a worthy cause makes this hard to be a stickler about. Kind of difficult to mount the high horse and say "Well it's not Dave Stevens" when the ultimate ends are so obviously good.

So far this is the best news to come out of the comic con.

The more I read about Marvel's and DC's plans, the more I want to drop their books and just focus on indies.

Hopefully we'll get at least a Bettie pinup from Steve Rude.

In addition to the in-the-series bits of art mentioned in the article, there has been substantial non-Stevens amounts of Rocketeer comics. There were two different movie adaptations (a 3-D one done by Neal Adams's Continuity Studios, and a color one done by Peter David and Russ Heath) plus a short story by Peter David and Gray Morrow which showed up in Disney Adventures.

I really look forward to this and appreciate the amazing talent that is coming together to make it all happen.

I can understand your concerns wholeheartedly but I'm willing to give this the benefit of the doubt until I’ve had a chance to read it. The talent that they've got lined up for this mini-series is pretty impressive, so hopefully it'll be good and won't mess with Dave Stevens' version of the character too much.
