Default CBR: Geoff Johns Prime: Comic-Con Edition

In this installment of Geoff Johns Prime, the writer answers questions about what's ahead for Captain Marvel, Dex-Starr and Aqualad and re-confirms he has no plans to leave "Green Lantern."

Sounds like nothing solid for Captain Marvel yet. It really shouldn't be so hard though. How often does a kid turn into an adult and go on fantastical adventures? And I don't mean just wearing a costume. He actually becomes someone else. I think if they start slow with Billy and build the CM world around him they could make a pretty epic story kinda like what Johns is doing with GL.

Sounds like Aqualad was already planned before Geoff got on board, but given his ability to work with the creators of the show, at least he should be consistent between mediums.

I thought Johns was supposed to be starting a new Captain Marvel with Gary Frank? I am guessing that is a no-go?

I've never heard of this. Gary Frank can't get Secret Origin on time, and Batman Earth One hasn't even been solicited this year.

The next Shazam we ever get is Morrison's Earth 5 one shot for Multiversity.

Reeeeally excited to hear there are plans for Aquaman, Mera and Aqualad but with each issue of Brightest Day that comes out I fear that Jackson will turn out to Mera and Manta's son.

I don't know about Mera, but I wouldn't put Manta past Geoff. The guy that gave us Zod's son and Lex's clone. I kind of hope not though. The whole "Evil Daddy" thing has become a tired cliche. Hasn't been interesting since Luke Skywalker.

Oh I'm almost 100% sure that Jackson is Manta's son, and due to Jackson's apparent hydrokinesis ability it looks like a Xebel native would have to be his mom, which kinda points to Mera. Not to mention she hinted at a history with Manta prior to meeting Aquaman in the last Brightest Day.

Geoff Johns Prime is the best column CBR puts out..We may get an Avengers and X-men piece just about every week, but GJP once in awhile is worth the wait!

I wouldn't be surprised. They had a scene in Blackest Night: Wonder Woman where WW ties up Mera in the lasso, and she basically sees something (that the reader isn't privy too), and says something to the effect of "Mera....", and Mera basically just says "How could I tell him?"

I'm assuming that might have been a reference to her and Manta bumping uglies.

Captain Marvel... so much wasted potential.
Top 3: Batman, Wonder Woman, X-force

Oh I know, but she still says something about knowing Black Manta before even meeting Arthur and how Manta killing their son was as much revenge on Mera as it was on Arthur. Hints at a possible relationship between the two right there.

At the risk of re-opening an old rift, the new Aqualad was really well received?? The loudest parts of the conversation to me seemed the skepticism over his longevity and an unfortunate racial stereotype.

I dunno, for the most part I remember a lot of persons (myself included) very excited about the character despite the arguing about his name or what have you. I'd say as a new character, who had yet to appear in any books, he got talked about a loooot.
