Um, what do you mean by "all warrior type Wonder comic"? I ask because I suspect some might describe Rucka's WW as being that (eg, she kills Medusa and Max Lord and such).

fyi: A Day in the Life is not in Paradise Found; it's in Paradise Lost. Our Worlds at War is a Superman event with a big invasion of Earth. The only part I've read is what's in Paradise Found, and while it's a bit confusing, I didn't find it too hard to follow.

Worded that wrong, shouldn't be posting this early. What I mean was that is the version of Diana in the comic very rough and violent?

Also, I always get those two confused, so i'll need to think about that one. I was kinda in it for the Day in The Life issue.

    Default WW New Reader Questions

The girlfriend wants to get into some female lead character driven comics, and one hero she mentioned was Wonder Woman. A few questions now:

-Is 601 a good jumping on point?
-Will she need to read anything else to understand the character, or will she be able to pick it up pretty quickly?
-Is it a "female character who kicks ass?"
    -Any other advice?

Sorry guys, I'm sure this is posted a thousand times... But new readers are always good, right?

maniacthw - As a new reader myself (and a female one, too), I'll definitely say WW is a 'female character who kicks ass.' I picked up older issues of WW after the revamp was announced, and found myself falling in love with the character. I've enjoyed JMS' run so far, and the intent behind it - helping new readers discover Diana while she discovers herself in an alternate universe - is quite interesting, but there's only been two issues so far, with not a lot of character development. So right now, there's not much story to speak of, let alone a lot of Wonder Woman. For something more substantial, she could perhaps pick up a couple of old trades, get a feel of the character, while also following JMS' run on the side. As to what old trades - opinion varies on these boards. I started with Gail Simone's run, because it was the most contemporary, and later picked up Rucka's run (which I really adore) and Jimenez (also great fun). Justice League: A League of One and Rucka's Heiketeia are also excellent. I later picked up Perez's run at the beginning of V2 to get a hang of WW continuity, but I haven't quite managed to finish it yet.

Does anyone know where I can purchase the original creator, William Marston's, original run? I'd LOVE to see how the character originally was before all these different writers put all of these different takes on the character.

Hi Maniacthw. Basically, I'd echo Swatcat's wonderful post, while adding that I think 600 is a better starting point for JMS' run than 601. Not all of 600 is relevant, but it does give you the basic premise/set-up and is just a fun read, imo.

My suggestion would be to check out the Archives and/or Chronicles:

Hey everyone. I am new here :)

louder, welcome to the forum! I moved your post to this thread so you could (a) read it for suggestions and (b) be in the right place to have your questions answered. This thread has suggestions for new readers, but if you need more, posters will certainly rise to the occasion and help you!

Ok thanks, Do they offer it as a collection? I dont want to spend my time hunting down single issues just yet until I get back into the swing of things.

JLA: A League of One is usually recced around these parts as a must-read (and I agree, it's great), but I was wondering if anyone could rec me some other JLA trades that feature Diana in a prominent way? I'm trying to get into the title, and Diana's presence would just be the kind of thing that'd help.
