This isn't directly related to this series but still awesome news. Nick and Darkhouse are teaming to produce Avatar comics that picks up after the last series ended

As for the idea of who could actually be a challenge to the main character of the new series, even a fully realized avatar isn't invincible or anything. They can still be killed, though it'd be incredibly hard to do, but it isn't out of the question. Thus, unless she has an army at her beck and call..she will still be able to be challenged. Plus I get the feeling that anti-bending "tech" of a sorts might come into play in the series, it'd make sense given the storyline supposedly has to do with an anti-bender movement.
A woman can move a lot faster with her skirt up than a man can with his pants down.
I, for one, am glad that the "old gang" won't be making an appearance. The original show managed to maintain its quality by avoiding fanservicey crap that eventually drags down all genre fiction. So I won't be sad to pass on appearances of a balding Sokka and stuff.
"I think we can help. Mercedes is black; I'm gay. We make culture." - Kurt, Glee.
There could always be whole new type of threat, like a mighty evil spirit. Or maybe there' a dark counterpart to the Avatar somewhere. Yin to her Yang, and all that.
BTW, has it ever been confirmed whether the lands we see on the map is in fact the *entire* world? Could there be undiscovered islands and continents?

Did you guys check out the voice cast?

Yeah its pretty awesome. Here is the link for everyone: http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2011/03/07/the-last-airbender-legend-of-korra-exclusive-cast-announcement/
I noticed they have a character named Mako to honor the late actor of the same name who had played Uncle Iroh in the first series.
This is very good news. Something to air out the stink from that horrid movie.
Here's the trailer from Comic-con. I'm hype

Man that movie sucked--they kept calling Ang "Ong!" How annoying was that?!?
ANYWAY, this looks like it might be pretty bad-ass. Doesn't look like the Fire Nation are the main baddies anymore--good! I wonder how wide spread bending is in the modern society. I am also wondering why Ong--ANG!--didn't found a new Air monestary and train some new Airbenders?
Thus do I write the first chapter of my new scripture. And the first verse is "Let it all burn."
PHOENIX INVICTUS!
Here's some pics from the Comic-con panel.
