    Default Avatar: Korra

New series/mini-series Avatar:The Legend of Korra (Might be working and/or foreign title).

The Associated Press reports that Avatar: The Legend of Korra, a new animated TV series based on Avatar: The Last Airbender will premiere in 2011 on Nickelodeon.

The series will focus on a new teenage girl avatar named Korra, who is described as “ready to take on the world.”

If this has half the personality of the original, it will most certainly be worth watching.
Taskmaster: I'm so much better than you. You can't win. You have to die.
Moon Knight: Yes, kill me.... See if that works this time.

    Default Update:

Nickelodeon said in a release that “The Legend of Korra takes place 70 years after the events of ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ and follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang – a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenaged girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra.”

Korra’s quest eventually leads her to Republic City–the epicenter of the world of “Avatar.” A metropolis powered by steampunk-type technology, the city is inhabited by people from all nations. Korra finds that Republic City suffers from rampant crime and is also dealing with an anti-bender revolt. Korra is tutored by Aang’s son, Tenzin, is the ways of airbending.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is easily the best animated series in a long time. I cannot praise it enough. Even my wife enjoyed this show--and she's a hard sell on animation.

    This is good news indeed.

Default Avatar: The Legends Of Korra Discussion Thread

I don't know if there is already a thread on this, but I thought it'd be nice to have a updated threat at least for Avatar on the board. Anyways, the latest news for the Legend Of Korra is that there is a new OFFICIAL fan club for it called Korra Nation! Here is the link: http://sot.ag/NDAxODU1/

Not only will they give you the latest news and information of the new series, but also a chance to win prizes like a trip to Comic Con this year!

Yep, pretty stoked for it. Avatar was one of the best animated series in my lifetime and is largely responsible for why I'm in Animation school at the moment. I cannot wait for Korra to meet and exceed my expectations in every way.

Already a thread or two for it but the more the merrier eh?

From Premiere announcement to Premiere only 30 days? Unusual but I can dig it.

    Pretty darn stoked.

I can't wait for this. I'm very interested in how the world will look in this one because from the early pictures I've seen, it seems to be set in near-modern day. I love that there's an anti-bender movement which I feel like is a good homage to X-men. I hope they also explain how someone becomes a bender too. Are they born with it? Is it the result of some magical ritual? Finally, what could be the main reason for the Avatar in this series? The leader of this anti-bending movement perhaps?

Has anyone else seen the premiere and the second episode of Korra yet? I personally thought that both episodes were very fantastic and did a good job of establishing the world and characters of Korra with room to expand upon what's there. This pilot seemed a lot better than the first series pilot and I feel Korra is a much stronger protagonist than Aang was. I'm not sure if it will match the first series as a whole but it will come close.

I'm also loving the supporting characters and what I've seen of the new villain Amon from the trailers and first episode. I hope he becomes a lot more dangerous than Ozai.

    Your thoughts on Korra?

Even though I think this show could never top the original I still thought both episodes where pretty good. I do wish we could have seen more of the antagonists though.

Apparently the third episode is going to focus heavily on Amon and the Equalists.

That's good, a clear antagonist is really what the first two episodes were lacking. The episodes were great character pieces and they really set the tone for the new world but they really lacked a sense of direction which I think the addition of a villain will bring.
