Default The Future of the Bat-Verse

Well we all know Bruce will be back in the cowl and we'll be getting another ongoing, but what about the rest of the Bat-verse? What does the future hold there?

    Some of my questions:

Has Grant Morrison finished his run? Bruce will be back and be Batman again, Hurt will finally be defeated, and season one of Batman and Robin is over. I know season two is planned, but what's left for Morrison to do?

As for Dick, will he go back to Nightwing again? If so, will the title come back. And would it be Bruce and Damian as Batman and Robin, or maybe they'll change Batman and Robin into the Damian Robin solo book.

All I'm hoping for is the Batmen concept to come into fruition.

I think that, unless Dick dies, there will be two Batmen.

As I've said elsewhere, I hate the multiple Batmen idea. HATE IT. I can't believe it's even being considered.

I'm hoping Morrison has a better idea. Or that he will somehow make it work. I mean, I hated the theory of Sexton being the Joker, and yet now that it's been revealed to actually be the case, Morrison has surprised me by actually making it work and I think it's awesome.

But this multiple Batmen thing sounds really stupid to me.

I guess I'll just wait and see what happens.

I'm all for the Batmen idea if it's the only way to keep Dick under the cowl.

I honestly can't bear the idea of them dropping Dick as Batman ... The Dick/ Damian partnership has been the best thing about the 'Bat-Verse' in a ong long time. I like Bruce as much as anyone and I really don't want him retired' ... but I feel there's a lot of life left in 'Batman and Robin'.

They need to bring Tim Drake back to Gotham as well. Bruce and Tim, Dick and Damian.

If that means two Batmen and two Robins so be it.

At least that will help the issue around the fact that there's apparently ANOTHER ongoing on its way, Batman and Robin can remain the Dick/ Damia book, use Detective as the crossover book that involves ALL the members of the Bat family and have Batman and Detective as the Bruce books.

I know which one Ill be buying ...

Indeed. I'm loving Dick as Batman, and it's really the only realistic chance that he will stay in the cowl.

I don't mind the idea of Batmen, because I like Dick being around and think he brings good balance to the Batfam.

That said, he doesn't really like being Batman and I think he's more of himself when he was Nightwing. So I'd prefer if he goes back to being Nightwing, even if he has to be a Batman for a few more months.

I'd also love to see Damian give up (or be fired from!) the Robin mantle and end up working with Dick. They work well together, and Dick is nice enough to teach Damian how to be less of a little asshole - as we've seen in the character development he's gotten over the last few months. Having him trying to make his own identity instead of just filling in the roles expected of him would be interesting, and I'd like to see the character struggle and grow with it.

Pluuuuus I think he needs a gentler role model than Bruce. Honestly, I just can't see Damian as the Robin to Bruce's Batman, at least not yet. It'll end in screaming battles every issue between the two of them, and a super-villain Damian in a few years no doubt. Frankly, I love Damian but I feel like it'll get old fast if they take that path.

    Oh, and Cass.

    Where the heck is Cass?

That's exactly how I feel. It'd make no sense for Dick to continue being Batman once the real deal returns. I'm sure he'd welcome the opportunity to become Nightwing once again.

Because Steve Rogers accepted a higher position from the President of the United States. He is now the overseer of the entire superhero community. However, he still needs Bucky to maintain his public image of Captain America. Rogers simply could not do both, especially now that he is engaging in covert missions a la Secret Avengers.

Not to go and agree with d9 here or anything, but none of that precludes Bruce from moving on to a Batman Beyond-style mentor position, or the Oracle for the overall superhero community, or something of the sort.

In that case it's fine. If it makes sense storywise, that's cool. But we all know that BOTH Steve Rogers and Bruce Wayne will go back to being Captain America and Batman, respectively.
