Marvel Comics has released an advance look at "Secret Avengers" #3, written by Ed Brubaker with art by Mike Deodato and covers by Deodato and Marko Djurdjevic. The issue sneaks into stores on July 28.

I think Deodato's art goes better with the page with the "drab" colors. I'm loving all the vibrant color in Secret Avengers, and I haven't been around long enough to learn artists' tricks, but it seems that Deodato saves time by using a lot of black. The one panel of "Jonah Hex" looks beautiful, and it only has some light shading. Every other panel he does has this sharp, sharp black in it and it's starting to irritate me, lol. I never caught it until Secret Avengers, but maybe the inker could use more of a grey or something, it just looks weird having all this vibrant color and then these steep contrasting black shadows. They really take away from the beauty.

Man, Deodata's art on that old west page is pretty much spectacular, i really like the way it's done (reminds me more of Mitch Breitwieser ~sp?)
