I'm all aboard. The previous two minis were fun and I like to encourage DC's efforts on behalf of their secondary and tertiary properties.
I can't wait to see what this Confederate WMD turns out to be. It reminds me of a concept I used when GMing a superhero RPG a long time ago. I will laugh aloud if they use anything even close the the concept I had.
Should be interesting - I liked their previous ongoing (the one back in the 70's - which should so how old I am).
Anyone who thinks DC is bringing back the Silver Age doesn't know what the Silver Age is.
There is no such word as "persay," it's per se, two words, from the Latin.
i've always had a soft spot for the ray, but i don't give a crap about the rest of the freedom fighters to pick up this book just for him. and as good of writers as palmiotti and gray are, i smell a fate akin to magog on the horizon for this one.
Conceptually I'm a fan of it, but the last two minis were astoundingly mediocre, and I haven't liked a single thing by the writing duo save for Jonah Hex. Not Countdown, not that martial arts book they did for Marvel, not Battle for Bludhaven, not Powergirl, not their Hawkman run, etc.
I'll give the first issue a try because I like the idea of it, and I'm a big fan of Travis Moore (Huzzah for him getting an ongoing series, he totally deserves it...just an incredibly strong storyteller and character actor).
I like this writing team and Uncle Sam & crew are cool concepts. I look forward to this and hope it's as good as Jonah Hex and Power Girl have been.
He used film references like five times in the interview. Coincedence? I don't think so.
The first mini was fun. I liked Acuna's artwork -- and the concepts were pretty good. Phantom Lady as a combo party girl/physicist is kinda weak though.
The second mine bored me. Couldn't wait for it to end.
I have to agree with the poster above. The only work I've enjoyed by P&G was on Jonah Hex.
i was starting to think i'd never see the Freedom Fighters again!
Palmiotti and Gray's intentions seem laudable... let's see how long they last before someone higher in the chain of command says "this isn't selling as well as we want it to. Kill a main character, and as grossly as possible".![]()
The second mini really suffered from the fact that it didn't have a pencil artist but a guy operating a xerox machine doing the art. One of the rare times that I dropped a mini series halfway through.
It probably did some damage to the chances of this ongoing succeeding. DC should give them a guest shot in a hit book like R.E.B.E.L.S. to help.
My blog.
We struggled against apartheid in South Africa, supported by people the world over, because black people were being blamed and made to suffer for something we could do nothing about; our very skins. It is the same with sexual orientation. It is a given.

The chances of this finding an audience in today's market ..........geesh
Didn't anyone learn from the auto industry? Trim the fat, puncture your bloated publishing line, and then maybe a book like this will find an audience. Good look to the creative team, you'll need a new job in 6 months.

I'm not sure about this really. The first group was thrown away for shock content, murdered and hung up on the Washington monument and no one-at least no one shown beside one comment from Black Canary in BOP prey-really cared.
The reborn group worked with Major Force to keep the Blundhaven ruins safe for experimentation by government forces, switching sides after beating the titans and none of them really seemed to care what was going on either. They seem more like government enforcers than freedom fighters. The characterization of PL is a major down point for me since I liked the first one so much and they seemed to make the second one very un-likeable. She's rich, she's smart, she's beautiful, she's power and yet she's very un-happy? I liked Power Girl but then I liked Power Girl from the start, this group seems to be DC's D listers.

Didn't they already use a premise like that in an early Jonah Hex issue? Without digging it out right now, IIRC Jonah had to face off against some clockwork monstrosities, somewhat steampunk, or something to that effect built by Edison (or an 'associate' of his at one time). Because THAT would be pretty cool to see again.
And before I get jumped on, it was months ago I read that, so I might be totally off base.
Getting back to the article, I think Gray and Palmiotti are a great fit as writers for this team. They do pretty solid work together, and the idea of exploring alternate history has always 'got' me. This will definitely be on my pull as it comes out.
