Based on how fans rave about the Jonah Hex comics series, I thought I might give this a try. Based on the Newsarama and Comic Book Resources reviews, however, now I'll wait for the digital rental ...

I have never read a "Jonah Hex" comic, so I had no preconceived ideas of what this film should be about. Overall, while the movie is nothing profound, I found it to be reasonably entertaining. I thought the supernatural and steampunk elements were wedded in a fairly seamless fashion. The audience finds out early on in "Jonah Hex" that this film is not going to be a realistic portrayal of the Old West, so that allows us to suspend disbelief for whatever outlandish things may happen.
It was doomed the moment the screenwriters added the supernatural to. And they're the ones who wrote Crank. Crank, for god sake!!!
Jonah Hex is one of my favorite characters and one of the few characters I'll buy any book with him in it.
Having said that, I understand putting a supernatural spin on this to make it distinct from just another cookie cutter western.
It certainly wasn't a great movie, but it wasn't bad either. It was fair and I really liked John Malkovitch.
Save that movie ticket money and just get the Jonah Hex Welcome to Paradise trade:
Or the more recent one:
And just wait for the movie to hit TBS or something.
I hate that They Change why and How Jonah face was burn I always liked the Idea that the burn was a mark of the demon that was
given to him from the Apache After the sacred tomahawk battle
Great Jonah Hex movies have been made...they all starred Clint Eastwood.
ANyone seen this yet? I'm only interested in the soundtrack (Mastodon!!); so if you've seen it let me know how good/bad it is
It's warping me
I was quite looking forward to this back when they did the initial casting (Brolin, Malkovich, Michael Shannon, Will Arnett...hell, even Fox, since her role was just "prostitute/eye candy"), but then I read about all the production turmoil and got pessimistic about what the final cut would end up like. And then those awful trailers started airing and the terrible previews/reviews came out.Oh, well. File it next to Daredevil, Constantine, and the rest under 'Disappointing, Poorly Executed Comic Book Adaptations.'
Truth. That's the style that I was initially hoping they were going for (or like 'The Proposition,' for instance), instead of adding in supernatural hokum and horse-mounted gatling guns.Originally Posted by brenticles

Yeah this looked as bad as Van Helsing was. I mean, when the people making the movie are desperate enough to cast Megan Fox, you gotta wonder how much they actually care? I have a stick I could duct tape some balloons onto for boobs and that'd lay out a better performance then she could.
Don't worry.
