Arrow Booster Gold #33 Preview + Discussion (Spoilers)

I loved Giffen's first issue, which was last issue. Very wordy with plenty of action and he maintains the nice tone of the book.

    Cover.

"You can't trust them as poets either. The true poet is anonymous, as to his habits, but these boys have to look, act, and apparently smell like poets"
    Flannery O'Connor on the beats.

Having recently been blessed with picking up the entire back run of this book on the cheap, it had shot to the top of my list of awesome books to read each month.

I just hope that the book continues to be awesome under the new creative team, and it doesnt follow the pattern it did last time of becoming too much 'comedy.'

I was hoping Rip was spared the mindwipe, but I was wrong.

Dang it Max is going to pay.

Wasn't quite elated with the previous issue, so this is the one that is going to determine if I keep this on my pull list.

Definitely. Especially side by side with the last issue.

    This seemed like a waste.
I'm a Giffen fan but this felt lik
    nothing was achieved, I'm disappointed.
It was nothing but cameo appearances.
I felt like I watched one of those rehash shows, where they spotlight around to what happen in other episodes in the season.

I agree. Nothing really got accomplished. But I feel there were some fun character moments. Also, I'm a sucker for time travel stories. This one was very Back to the Future-esque

This whole Max Lord dilemma is quickly becoming my favorite plotline currently going.

I loved the issue. Like everyone else said it was just filler, but it was funny, emotional at times, and cute. I wonder what the pony and the happy butterfly foreshadow.

Filler issue that basically describes what is happening in Generation Lost. Wasn't horrible, but it wasn't necessarily memorable either. At least it explains why Booster just couldn't go in the past and bring back a newspaper clipping or a VHS of Max Lord.

I haven't decided if I like the humorous direction Booster Gold is going in now. These past two issues, the jokes haven't necessarily been clever jokes but more corny (feels like jokes from a 1980s movie). I'm not going to drop it yet considering I really like the Booster Gold character, but the first two issues from the new creative team hasn't gotten me too excited yet.

Loved this issue! I was smiling on almost every page. Who cares if it doesn't check off plot points on some imaginary agenda when it's this much fun? The art was wonderful, the colouring beautiful, the dialogue sparkled, the characters were likeable (liked the cursing little girl), and the whole thing had heart. And it directly addressed a lot of what people were saying about the last issue, that it undid the character growth he'd had since 52. Clearly, that's not the case.

And I identified with him telling off Cyborg while hopped up on caffeine a little too much - I did the exact same thing to someone after a bit too much Starbucks just yesterday

Oh yeah - Ted Kord cameo! Bonus! I love that he's maintained a kind of background presence throughout this series' run.

If this is the way this book is going to go under Giffen & DeMatteis, I'm really excited. It could get to the top of my reading list in a hurry.

So, if Skeets remembers Max, does that mean Red Tornado, the Metal Men, etc. do to?
Pull List; seems to be too long to fit in my sig...

Since in Generation Lost #3 spoilers:
the explanation given for why the scarab knows about Max is because it's a form of AI,
end of spoilers then yeah, they've got a pretty big plothole if they don't explain that.

Definitely agree that nothing was really accomplished in the issue, but I still really enjoyed the book for its writing and thought it was pretty funny.

See this is the confusing thing, is that in Generation Lost, they had already tried to show Superman a recording of WW killing Max.
But even though they saw it, Superman didn't, so I would figure anything that Booster brought back wouldn't matter because the others wouldn't see the same thing he did.

It's like the writers aren't talking to each other about the physics of the story.
