I would say yes, definately. It collects: AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #139-150; and PETER PARKER, THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN (1976) #25-31, #149, #162-163 & ANNUAL #8. This is all the older stuff, and it's a huge collection of classic Spidey stuff. $16 for 492 pages is a bargain.

It's awesome Gryph, better than each of the Clone Saga trades combined. Picked mine up for a tenner not long ago, but if I'd read it before I'd paid for it, I'd happily pay twice that.
Spiderman: With Great Power has been a solid first read for most people I know, and oddly enough, Big Time is a popular arc with new readers.
What I'm thinking is that the old-school kind of comic books have dialogue and situations that might not be well received by people that have never read a comic book before. That's the reason why Ultimate Spidey feels more contemporary- reading 80's Spidey is like reading Archie (at least for new readers). I'd strongly suggest Ultimate Spiderman Vol. 1- say what you will about Bendis, the man can write teens.
I've read only a limited number of Spider-Man so my opinion may not be a good one or distinguished but I like the Spider-Man Torment, I guess mainly because I love the artwork by Todd McFarlane. He really brings out the characters I think with his art. Story aint too shabby either..
Cheers,
Kevin
Spider Man: Blue is pretty fun and accessible.
