No flying for Magma. She's like an Earth elemental or the anti-Storm. Storm has claustrophobia and Amara has a aerophobia... it makes her more than one dimensional fire-chick. I'd love writers use Magma to her potential. Not flying, but having her bring up slabs of granite to crush people like the Beyonder or opening huge chasms to drop villains in. Throwing hot lava around is just so boring.

You would have enjoyed the scene wherein, Magma, flying (which she cannot do), attacked Iron Fist, who ran like a girl.

I'm replying in this thread so as not to derail the X Men / Avengers review thread, but I just wanted to brainstorm this.

The general consensus is that Magma is not flying, but using her powers to move the earth around her. However I wonder if an alternate explanation might be that she is using her lava powers to make it so hot that there is a "heat shimmer" effect which makes it look as if she is flying?

Or maybe she is making it so warm that the observers are hallucinating?

Occam's razor probably suggests she is moving the earth but I just thought I'd mention it
