Magma flying probably has something to do with combustion and molecules.

"molecules" are so silver age. comics use "quantum" every other sentence to sound scientific now.

I bet the next thing will be "super-strings" thrown in every sentence, in about 10 years when the writers actually learn what quantum actually means and that tossing the word quantum in random sentences doesn't really make their stories scientific.

and also earlier in Second Coming when the NMs jumped out of a plane

The thing is she IS flying. Whether we like it or not. I personally hate it, I love when original powers are created. And Magma was that case; she was a pyrokinetic in a way, but not the typical one. Her powers were original and were very specifically explain on NM. She could control lava, not fire, but lava. She has a lava form, not a fire flying form, but lava form. She could move molten rock beneath the earth and create earthquakes and little volcanoes, make lava rise from beneath the earth and capture people in molten rock. And she had this strong connection to the Earth, she needed to be in contact or near ground to use her powers (as seen in the battle against Magus), her emotions affected they terrain near her and she would heal when in contact with lava (as when her powers manifest).

Now, thought she was created not to be one more typical pyrokinetic, she is being transformed into one. And I hate it. But it’s happening and it’s a shame. It’d even make more sense if she would fly over controlled lava (like she did with her boyfriend) a la Iceman.

It a shame they keep destroying one of the things that made NM interesting, and that was how specifically their powers worked. But now they are making Karma a telepath, Berto an energy user and now Magma a pyrokinetic. What’s next? Pyrokinetic Cannonball?

I was informed that she was only 'falling' in those scenes and not specifically 'flying' as seen in last weeks Legacy.
