KANG

Just did a search for this and was amazed that no one else had responded. Kang and his counterparts Rama Tut and Immortus have been part of the Avenger's history almost since the beginning.
In some form or another they have encountered most of Marvel's heroes and have had a massive effect on the MU as a whole.
For me the best classic Avengers stories have been those featuring Kang or Immortus.
Hopefully this will kick off a resurgence of support for the green and purple garbed master of time.
Kang has always been one of my favorite villains. It's too bad he's being written so badly in Avengers right now. My favorite Kang stories have to be Avengers Forever, and the Roger Stern story where we learn of all the Cross-Time Kangs. I also enjoyed Englehart's take on him with the whole Celestial Madonna thing as well.

Kang's great. I'd give the edge to Kang Dynasty over Avengers Forever, but I suppose the latter made the former possible.
Also, from that set of hip-hop album covers/Marvel character mashups that's been going around:

Sometimes it's hard to consider Kang a villain at times, he walks that line so well. You could almost admire the guy. Until he does something villainous.
Both Avengers Forever and Kang Dynasty were good stories. I like the Celestial Madonna storyline too. Throw out The Crossing and I don't think there were very many bad Kang stories.
he's one of my all time villains.
and people seem to forget how much ass he kicked in The Kang Dynasty.

haven't read much stories of Kang except the Young Avengers vol. 1. But based on what I've read of him from Marvel encyclopedias and wiki. I really enjoy his character the fact he's a time traveling conqueror. Looking forward to him appearing in Young Avengers again.
CBR's Brian Cronin paid tribute to what is IMO one of the first great Kang stories (From Stan Lee and Don Heck's Avengers #23-24) in his Year of Cool Comics.
"...Doom's enemies have not the mettle to challenge him host to host, tooth to nail... As economic and military options fail them, they resort to simple rudeness."
I have never liked Kang much.... from his first appearance for me in Thor #140 as the Growing Man gets out of control... to his arrogant chess match in Avengers #69-72, I didn't like him much.
And then, whioh writer was it who goes and decides that he and Immortus are the same person?
That was bizarre. It wasn't until I actually saw it in Avengers Forever that I believed it. At least that series tried to even all kinds of things out and smooth out the contradictions.
It just seems that every time Kang gets used, he gets more and more twisted, and it makes less and less sense.
With all of time to choose from, why does he then continue to comment on his attacks on the Avengers as if they are occuring in linear fashion...just because the books are published in linear order.
I think Kang got it wrong when the man who would become Rama Tut found the plans for a time machine and assumed that his ancestor was Doctor Doom. I think his ancestor is Tony Stark, who at some point will wind up with the plans or custody of the time machine.
It would make so much more sense.
Who was it that explained away the Dr. Doom/Rama Tut confrontation saying that Doom was bluffing him? What issues was that established in?

So I just finished the Kang War story by Busiek and wow, that was awesome. I have a question about it though and I'm hoping I could ask it here. While reading I got the impression that Kang was in charge for quite some time so what was the other groups doing during that time? I know they mention the X-men, FF and Alpha Flight doing stuff but was it covered in their series at all or was this just contained in the main Avengers book? One last thing, where does one get an awesome floating chair like his?!
Co-signed, mattbib! I love KANG!
