I got to say it was fun seeing Luke in action and it was similar to his comic book counterpart of being the man of talking tough and being hard to beat with his unbreakable skin. Plus, I sort of chuckled at Cage's line of him being an Avenger with Iron Fist as Thor.

I must say that Cage was a bit better here on the Avengers than in the Ultimate Spider-man cartoon.

The Luke Cage in the Ultimate SpiderMan cartoon is nothing but a token black guy who is wall paper.

why they decided to use Danny and Luke in the cartoon I will never understand.

    EMH nailed them both IMO

He’s the type of guy who is always looking for the angle. He’ll search for a way to make the most of his present circumstances, while keeping one eye on the horizon for the next opportunity. Luke was a savvy businessman who intuitively understood the power of marketing. For years, readers mocked Luke Cage for his metal headband and yellow shirt, but Luke was always in on the joke, too. Luke recognized that superheroes were popular, and with his new found abilities, he could capitalize on the public’s fascination with them to make money. He knew the costume was “hokey” the moment he put it on, but also knew he was selling the image of a superhero that anybody could hire. If that was going to be his image or his brand, than he needed to look the part. Over the years Cage would use his meager reward money to satisfy his most immediate need for accommodations and then INVESTED the rest into funding his innovative business venture as a hero for hire.

In the 616 Marvel Universe, prior to his affiliation with the Avengers, Luke Cage operated on a fairly limited scale. His home base was primarily New York City, Harlem specifically. Cage’s: fame, rep and influence was just regional to the New york area and maybe a few other heroes.

He's got a criminal past and ran with the wrong crowd growing up but he has always been a good guy at heart.

Its interesting to see his evolution. He was a guy who kind of had a chip on his shoulder and had to overcome a lot of people passing judgment on his and making assumptions. And now he's an Avenger and a father.

But I think the comparison to Ben Grimm is much better than the comparison to Spider-Man. I wouldn't compare Cage to Peter PArker at all except in the fact that they are both great guys.
Thanks. It's nice to finally get it, a little bit. Cage has been all over modern Marvel stuff, but I hadn't been able to get a bead on the guy through most of it. He was just this . . . guy . . . who was an Avenger . . . and stuff. I have an even bigger problem trying to figure out Spider-Woman. I read her Essential book and thought it was a waste of paper and her Origin miniseries and came out more confused than I started.

yeah I'm kind of at a loss with Spider-Woman too. Didn't really start reading her till New Avengers. And than she turned out to be a Skrull. She was like a spy or something with connections to Hydra. That's all I've got.

Though I think some might understandably think that's a bit too high, I can see why he landed where he did.

I think Cage evolved into the literal backbone of the New Avengers during a very significant era of Avengers history.

Even though a lot of elements of this particular list are questionable and ultimately it means nothing, I still do think it's kind of cool that Cage is being given a nice nod here.

The whole poll was kind of random, but you have to say that Cage is a big pilar and essential character in Bendis New Avengers run and has played a big role in all the major events since 2006 except for Fear Itself

I love Luke Cage as a character. I hope that he and Iron Fist get their own spin off cartoon. Loved their appearances in Ultimate Spider Man and the Avengers.

Matter fact, are there any Black Panther and Luke Cage team ups? Id love to see what a whole miniseries or series period with them is like.
