Question about Hope and her mimic abilities. Now, I know Hope and Rogue have a connection, and when Rogue touched Hope it did something to the both of them. I had previously thought Rogue just got her psyches cleared and death touched removed, while Hope copied Rogue's power-copying ability (...yeah, I can see now how that might not make sense...). Now I'm thinking I was wrong. Hope developed those abilities by herself.

First their powers are actually pretty different. Rogue can absorb memories, lifeforce, is touched based, and affects all living things (not just mutants). While Hope can copy without contact, affects other mutants control and development, and so far only seems limited to only mutants (but since Rogue's a mutant, and can affect non-mutants, I guess she might be able to affect non-mutants too if she tapped into Rogue?). Anyway Hope's mimicry seemed to come about as a result of being an avatar/messiah for mutantdom, and not because of her connection to Rogue, and thus can access those powers by extension.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has any theories or answers regarding that.

Was reading this article, and does anyone know what book the image from the top was taken from?

EDIT: Nevermind. Followed the link over to CBR and found that it's from an upcoming AvX issue.

Read X-force #28 again. Hope and Nathan's conversation by the fire is my favourite scene of any comics I've read. I've read Messiah Complex and Second Coming again last month and I fell even more for Hope, I haven't loved anybody else so quickly. I'll proabably read Cable and Generation Hope again over the summer. I really hope she won't die at the end of AvX because she's in my top 3 X-men right now.

I hear you, I love that scene too. The panel when Cable says "the moment I first held you" is priceless. I've seen people whining about how bad Second Coming was (which I never understood), but in AvX Hope is diluting in a sea of writers who don't seem to even care who she is or what she's been through. I think Carey, Wells and KyY really nailed the character.

Oh and now I remember this moment in SC too, when Hope saves Storm's butt in Legacy #237

    I like how Cyke smiles.

I get chills every time I read that, and when it's reprised as Hope's power activate... I just can't help but crying. Personally I loved Second Coming, it was a rollercoaster of thrill and emotional moments, with so much going on yet a lot more organized and coherent than AvX. I miss Kyost on the X-books so much. It seems a lot of people don't like them though. I loved pretty much everything they wrote for the X-men, and they've killed and written out my 2 favourite NXM.

I'm surprised this thread isn't getting more but considering how Hope, who I thought was supposed to be a HUGE part of of AvX along with Wanda, isn't doing much I guess it's understandable.

I was wondering though how Hope fans feel about what's happening in AvX regarding her? And if she comes out of this alive, where would you like to see Hope most in Marvel NOW? I thought Uncanny Avengers would have been perfect for her but I guess not many others agree.

I hate Uncanny Avengers so no, I wouldn't want her there! The best option for me would be taking the codename Cable and have a solo book pretty much like her father's, doing her own thing away from the X-men (but not as separated from them as Cable was in the beginning), fighting mostly terrorists and other non-supernatural enemies that require gunpower over mutant ones. Nathan (assuming he won't die... again) will be there to help here but he's too old fight in the front lines, and Irene will be back of course, with the Lights guest-starring once in a while. I think whetere or not the X-gene is activated, she needs some time away from the X-men, maybe a nice vacation with her Lights and then off to do her thing. To be honest I've never thought of her as X-men material.

As for her role in AvX, I'm mightly pissed, but it's been this way since the beginning so I don't even pay attention to it anymore. Her characterization would have made more sense if AvX happened right after Second Coming, because everything she's learned between the two has been completely forgotten. Bendis writes her like a scared damsell in distress and she hasn't done anything until now, with the Avengers always making choices for her and now doing what Cyclops has always done... it's quite a mess. Hopefully she'll be relevant in Act III. I don't mind the P5 for Act II, I thought it was a neat idea, but the complete lack of Hope's thoughts about it (if not for the Infinity comic) is a shame. She should've been way more central. There's still hope she'll be important, but I'm not expecting her to behave like the woman Cable raised her to be. Very few people have understood that when they're writing Hope, they need to write Cable in a girl's body.

Why even have Hope at all then? Why not just write Cable?

What does that even mean? If you want to write Cable, write Cable. Selphy asked for Hope and I gave my answer.

It seems with a few exceptions, Hope fans are like Beiber fans ;)
The first time I saw love, it was hanging from a tree.
