i still just find the design way too busy. the break up gold areas on the forearms and lower legs and the abundance of LEDs/RTs just kill the "flow" for me :(

Yeah, what's funny to me is that I liked a lot of the other preliminary designs more than the one they eventually settled on.
They made the armor harder than ever to draw for any artist/colorist and it still shouldn't look that scatter-shot in design. But I'm certainly warming up to it.
CIVIL WAR!
OK, now that that's out of the way....
I rather like the Kirby meets Baron Karza vibe of some of the designs, specifically the ones with the four RT's in a row.

I want to see McNiven draw it. The way he portrayed Iron Man in Civil War, I think, is absolutely phenomenal. My favorite interpretation of the costume to date. If McNiven can make it look cool, I'm fine with it.
That said, I do think it is a little busy with all its separated plating and glowing doodads.

I actually prefer the extremis armor...aesthetically speaking, but do look forward to what the new designed armor is capable of.
Some people are like slinkies...they are really good for nothing...But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
This new design has one major problem...the eye slits. Look at how far they're apart! Tony Stark would have to have a reeaally wide nose for that to work. Looks ridiculous and unrealistic.
he just looks at holograms infront of him anyways do the eye slits matter?
or is that just the extremis and movie armor that did that?

Really loving the new look! I wasn't totally sold when I saw the first small pic but now that we've seen larger ones I'm really liking the sleek aspect of it. I actually did a few concept drawings a while back, thinking of how an Iron Man suit would look if it were "iPod-ized" into something a bit more simple and curvy. None of mine looked as good as this though.
I am still eager to find out what the gold thumbs with the red buttons are!
I will say I really liked the "D2" design as well. Something about the cluster of RT's at the top just really appeals to me. I still wish Larrocca hadn't taken such liberties with the eyes though. I think they are just to big the way he draws them. I think they look perfect in the concept drawings though.

I do like the more alien look to the faceplate, pity that didn't translate into the actual final version we see in IIM 25.
And I'm not sold on this suit yet, I like him having a bit of bulk to him, it gives him a nice contrasting silhouette to everyone else, that I think is kinda lost with this new redesign.
But I loved the Extremis armour, and I thought it still had a few more years before it was time for an upgrade. Still, hard to argue if it was Fraction's decision, considering the bang-up job he's done on the book so far.
The promo's we got of the new armour look great. I think the large eyes of Larroca can be altered in future issues, though. But I really like the colour scheme, and the gold plates may seem a little busy, but overall, I'm really enjoying the design.
That looks brilliant - give the armour to the right artist, and it'll look phenomenal. Like others have mentioned, McNiven draws a good Iron Man, but Larroca's suits of armour look brilliant once fully rendered. Hopefully we'll get some better action shots of the suit later on.

I like the new design, but it's too bad it's being drawn by Larocca.
There are four stages of matter. Solid. Liquid. Gas & Don't. It's science.
I am a male. Deal with it.
