Again, how is this the worst art ever? What is so bad about it? You want to see bad art, check out Batman #484 and 485. That's bad art.

I mean worst ever for Action, not all of DC. This is mainly in reference to Perez, who IMHO does not have the skill or talent to draw a mainstream comic.
As for those Batmans, I think Grindberg is a fine artist. Enjoyed hi Warlock tremendously.
Now you might not care for his style, but he has drawing ability and a sense of how to tell a story, both of which Perez is sadly lacking.
But when a tile's sales goes from 55,000 to around 30,000 I'd say there is something wrong..
I'm glad you think the art is great. You are entitled to your taste. I can only compare it to the comics I have read for the last 45 years and my 30 years as an artist. To me it is terribly sub par.
What's so bad? Give me something.
Grindberg's two issues were the most repulsive pieces of trash I've seen. A lot of people complained in the letters column about it. He may have done better in other books, but for those two issues, it was dog crap.As for those Batmans, I think Grindberg is a fine artist. Enjoyed hi Warlock tremendously.
Yeah, because Superman's not in it and the sense of excitement that the Nightwing and Flamebird story built in it's initially arc was lost. The chief complaints. Not as many people bitched about the art as the pacing and lack of lead character.Originally Posted by edhopper
Bad anatomy, lack of story telling, poor drawing skills in general.
And there were PLENTY who complained about the art.
But hey, you can like what you like. I have neither the time nor inclination to go page by page and show how truly awful it was to someone who obviously had no problem with it.
I'll save the art lesson to my students.
You liked it when so many other (I'd say the majority) of Superman readers did not. Good for you.
I think what we're seeing here is what I call the "Spider-man Syndrome" based on Kyle Baker's assignment to Web Of Spider-Man when he was first starting out because the view was that Spider-Man is going to sell a certain amount no matter how bad the art is, so it was a chance for him to cut his teeth. Similarly, they feel that Superman is going to see a certain amount no matter what, hence the sub-par art stretched across so many of the books. Action Comics is 72 years old and they clearly feel these cavewall etchings aren't going to kill it now. Sad, really.
We've both read the books. We looked at the same art. I found it weak and un-professional, you thought it was awesome. Our taste obviously differ. As I said, I have neither the time nor inclination to have an art lesson here.
I am not trying to prove anything or convince you that lousy art is lousy art.
I am merely stating my opinion of the recent artists in Action, specifically Perez.
If you have time to post on a message board, then you have the time to point it out in detail.
All I can say is that this does explain how Mordru gains control over Sorcerer's World (and rules it for about the next 1000 years or so).
