Im excited and like to see his take on the x-men! The art is looking good! And he's taking them into the MU while Uncanny focus on the X-men stuff...I'll be on the look out!

He said nice things about Chris Claremont, he's cool with me! And glad to see the x-men kicking super powered villains again. :]

Chris Claremont often says nice things about himself. Explains why you're a fan.

What is it about this book that Mike Carey couldn't have done in the book formerly known as just "X-Men?"

When he came on board, he told great superhero team stories, and I have no doubt he could have taken point on integrating the X-Men with the rest of the Marvel Universe.

Sorry, I just don't think a 4th flagship X-Men book is remotely necessary, and is only going to cannibalize sales from the existing 3, or the satelite titles like X-Force or New Mutants.

I'm sure Gischler is a good writer...it just seems SO unnecessary.

Oh... Excuse me, I have something in my eye!

The unnecessary books are X23 marvel captain Daken Jr and all that wolverine family crapola. Let's not fight among fans of the real x-men. The more, the better.

I am not feeling this interview at all. Battling whoever is available? That's sounds like there is no plot at all and this book is just going to be tossed out there as the X-Men doing whatever. Not much of a plan for an X-Book.

I 100% agree with you. Marvel is out of control with all these renaming and relaunching of titles. I've been collecting X-Men since it's launch in the early '90s and then I followed it through New X-Men and X-Men: Legacy. The fact that Marvel is launching a new title called X-Men is a little annoying. Am I to expect X-Men: Legacy to be cancelled once Mike Carey calls it quits? Whatever... Marvel is pushing me further and further away from their books and into the Image Universe. At least there everything is creator-owned and when there's a relaunch, it'll make sense and explained by the creators themselves.

Good call. They should pitch it as "X-Men: Rumbles". There would be an audience.

I agree. I liked the way X-titles were before. X-treme X-men was for anti-Prof X members, New X-men was for the core X-men, and Uncanny X-men was for romance and insanity. Now, the only X-titles that have goals are X-men Legacy, X-Factor, and X-Force (2 of which are not even part of the core X-titles).

I completely agree. When I saw this I was curious why Carey couldn't have been given this book?

The word you used hits the nail on the head. Unnecessary.

I so don't look forward to reading this. Plus he sounds just like Fraction did over a year ago when the rotating cast concept was introduced. Only now not only will he have dozen of mutants at his disposal apparently he will have a bunch of random Marvel heroes to throw into the book. Plus Medina's art is gross for a major x-title.

Aside from being informed that a new X title will be hitting stores, this interview was very lacking.
We don't even get any names for the cast. We do get that great cover image but are we to assume all those characters featured will also be featured in the interior?

    Le sigh.

The cover images are interesting. Could Storm finally be returning to the X-Men full time? Or is she going to be put in the same "present in multiple places in the Marvel U at once, so the possibility of any interesting changes in character are nil" limbo as Wolverine?

Worried, as I think Merc With a Mouth is awful. Wouldn't even touch Deadpool Corps.

But who knows, as its the only thing by Gischler I've ever read. Deadpool could be him out of his element, and his X-Men could be a great surprise. I'll stay positive.
