Avengers Academy is damn fine comics. But Ava and Sam were created for the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon.

Not digging this cartoon. Granted, I am stuck in my ways and will always think the 90's, "I can't punch anything on TV but was close to the source material," cartoon was the best so my opinion should be taken with a grain of salt. That said, I enjoyed Spectacular better than this one. If only it had more realistic animation.

Okay so after watching USM (and loving it ) I tried to watch the Avengers cartoon and I really disliked it. The pacing was pretty slow. I saw two episodes and did not enjoy them at all. From what I've read online alot of people love that show so I was really surprised.

Also even though I really like USM I still miss the Spectacular Spider-man that show was great. *sigh*

I must say today's episode was an interesting take on the Venom storyline as it showed the Venom forms of Nova, Iron Fist and even Power Man, I don't think we never had that in the comics.

    So in a way, that's a first, right ?

It was a great episode and another step in the right direction, I love that the tone was taken more seriously and the fight against Venom was cool.

Danny was awesome in today's episode too.

Yeah, being the only hero trying to fight against Venom's influence, shows me that he is truly a trained hero.

    Y'know what I just realised.

I am not excited to watch this show.

With Spectacular, after the first episode... No, the first trailer! I was so excited for each following ep that I did little else than troll the internet for the next piece of footage/news of the show.

Same goes for "Wolverine and the X-Men" and "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes"

This... This "Ultimate Spider-Man" is actually boring. Something I never thought I would even think about when I was talking about Spider-Man.

That sucks. Personally, I was enjoying the s*** out of it, but that's because I'm a Spider-Junkie who needs his fix so bad he's willing to wake up at 11 a.m. on Sundays. If you've got the intestinal fortitude, you can wait until episode 39 of Avengers: EMH, because that's the episode Spider-Man guest-stars in and I'm pretty sure, based on the looks of EMH's Luke Cage and Iron Fist, that it's not going to be the same one as Ultimate.

Onto the episode itself, I do think we're going to get a more "proper" Venom story arc later on in the series. After all, the Venom we saw today was a trial run and now that Osborn and Octopus both know they've stumbled onto a winner, they intend to make a stronger, deadlier version that'll likely distill everything that made it work without some of the worse drawbacks. Again, Norman Osborn's fantasy sequence of an army of OSCORP Spider-Men, this time wearing Venom derivatives, at his disposal was rather perversely enjoyable, if only for Norman's dress sense. Plus, we do get another shot of him showing actual concern for Harry when there's nobody around to play to, so I'm guessing they're going with the earlier depictions where as ruthless and driven and amoral as he was as both himself and the Green Goblin, he did genuinely love his son. As for that worrying bit about Flash being such a turd that he decided to feed Peter to Venom when it came for them, I'm pretty sure that he'll develop in much the same way as most versions of Flash do --- he eventually grows a conscience and stops being such a tool --- if the series lasts long enough.

By the way, who's chomping at the bit to see Ultimate's rendition of Gwen Stacy?

I don't know if we'll even see Gwen in this series. The cast is already huge with MJ, Harry, Aunt May, Flash, Jonah, Robbie (who is supposed to appear at some point), Norman, Doc Ock, Nick Fury, Coulson, White Tiger, Iron Fist, Power Man, and Nova. And this is without getting into individual villains who have shown up like Doom and Venom and upcoming guest stars like Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Captain America (among other heroes).

If they can fit Phil Coulson in, they can fit Gwen Stacy in.

It'd be stupid not to with her being a major character in the movie. Audiences will be expecting it.

As much as I appreciate movie adaptations that stick to the original material, I'm 99% sure they won't do that.

Kids WILL watch the movie and no studio will want to upset kids (or stress their parents) by killing off the pretty blonde girl love-interest

Gwen is going to be killed. Maybe not in the first movie. But it will happen.

Kids will watch Batman and "The Dark Knight" was exceptionally dark.
