I'm not sure if this is legit or not, but it does seem Spectacular is over. This new series is gonna have big shoes to fill to replace the best Spidey cartoon ever.

That's a shame. It was a great show. Much better than the 90s series. It now joins Legion of Super-Heroes in superhero cartoon heaven.

I suspected this was going to happen. Never even made it to syndication, which is too bad.

I wonder if the new series, given it's name, is going to follow the USM story more closely. That seems to be where they're going with the movie as well and it wouldn't surprise me if they wanted the two to match up.
And I hope when you think of me years down the line
You can't find one good thing to say.
And I hope that if I found the strength to walk out
You'd stay the hell out of my way.

I thought the 90's series was considered to be one of the best animated shows of the time. Of course nothing reached the level of Batman the animated series, but Spidey had great ratings until TV execs decided to cancel in favor of Spider-Man unlimited

    STINK BURGERS!!!

SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN WAS AN AWESOME BURGER CARTOON!!

why do the good ones always get canned???

"Superior New Day" is temporary: but maybe Juggernaut can be the new She-Hulk! And Skeletor can be Battle Cat. Darth Vader can be Princess Leia in the new Superior Star Wars! Unleash the Whacken!

That's just personal taste on my part. I thought the 90s series had mediocre to sub-par animation, overwrought dialogue and cringe-worthy voice acting. I thought the DC Cartoons at the time were far superior in all respects.

Batman was by far my favorite of the time until it was drawn like superman/with a darker style, but wasn't a big fan of the superman cartoons.

I somewhat agree. I thought the first couple of seasons of the 90's show was pretty good, but after that it was poor.

Biggest annoyance was the overuse of Kingpin at the expense of the other villains. And the repeated use of stock footage, too.

The 90's Spider-Man show had a good pilot.

But I will contend that there has never been a good adventure cartoon where bad guys weren't allowed to shoot real guns, and where the hero couldn't punch anybody in the face.

And I'm not quite sure what to make of this new show. If it's a team-up show based on the Ultimate versions of characters, we're going to have a problem, since a large majority of those characters exist only as mirror opposite versions of their classic Marvel Universe counterparts. Do Marvel and Disney really want to muddy the waters with these bizarro adaptations of their characters at the moment in time they should be trying to cement their most iconic DNA in the public consciousness?

My guess is they're not that stupid, and this show will contain the classic characters with maybe one or two of the Ultimate trappings for the Peter Parker stuff. Also note that Bendis isn't involved, so that should also tell you something. Maybe they figure he had his shot with the MTV show.

And I wouldn't read too much into that promo image. It's obviously art from the comic book, so I'd bet they don't even have the basic designs settled on yet. Please no floppy Peter Parker hair, that's the main thing I ask.

Also, someone should tell Marvel and Disney that ultimate means last. I think they should call it Antepenultimate Spider-Man. Then they'd at least get a couple more cracks if it doesn't work.

Clearly, you've never seen "Rubik, The Amazing Cube".

You're kidding right? That 90's cartoon was full of horrible stock animation .

Anyway, It's a shame to see Spectacular go since it was at the level of the DCAU stuff.
