I'm really enjoying She-Hulks as well, I'm sad the numbers were so low that it was relegated from an ongoing to a mini series. :(

I love the tone of the book and the art is so perfect for it.

Where does Jen appear monthly other than She-Hulks? Incredible Hulks?

But when Lyra's mini-series did come out, Jen was a major character in it and she was treated with respect.

Lyra has by no means replaced Jen so I don't really mind her at all. !
Actually, I kinda suspect that the feedback for Lyra was so ordinary that they changed their plans to have her replace Jen as She-Hulk. Hence, Jen 'came back from the dead' in Fall of the Hulks and now shares the new She-Hulks mini with her.

Mind you, I've nothing to back this up, it's just a feeling I've had over the last 6 months or so.

Has it, I hadn't heard that.

Darn the character cannot catch a break, they keep relaunching her in various titles, so you cannot accuse Marvel of not trying. But everytime it's the same story the title gets pulled due to low numbers. I think we have to face the fact that she doesn't seem to be that popular a character with the current readership of Marvel comics.:(

Jen is appearing regularly in Incredible Hulks.

I'm not sure I agree with Marvel trying all the time with She-Hulk. But maybe I am just greedy and want more She-Hulk all the time. But it took 10 whole years for her to get her own series again when the Dan Slott book launched. It was 7 years in between her first and second series.

Jen sustained a solo series for 60 issues with Sensational---and with her last book---between the first season and the rest of it, it was 50 issues. So she has the ability to at least sustain for a few years or more---I just wish they could figure a way to keep it going beyond that.

On the other hand, I do feel we have been lucky with her and I have to give Marvel credit for that too. She could've just vanished after her first series ended but almost immediately they had her join the Avengers and then later the FF. She has always been appearing somewhere and I am grateful for that. I just would love to have a She-Hulk ongoing last for years and years and years !

I think the problem is that she hasn't been effectively established as a character in her own right, just a female version of Hulk.

In all her books, there haven't really been any core supporting characters, like Spider-Man has May, MJ, Harry & Jonah.

I think She-Hulk needs a strong supporting cast established, brining back people from her old series as well as some new characters, and she needs some new villains as well as Titania. If they treat her as her own entity, and not a gimmick Hulk, I think the sales will come.

Having her be at the centre of an event could help too.

As far as Lyra goes....NO. She's an abomination. She is the Rachel Grey of the Hulk-Verse and needs to be sent back to her own world or killed off when Jen Walters, the real She-Hulk accidentally whaps her in the head with her beer stein that needs refilled.
I strongly disagree. Lyra is a great character and she has been a great addition to the Hulk family.

I also love how she sees Jen as a mentor. I just wish she'd interact more with her brother Skaar.

For that matter, i love the Good cop/ Bad cop relationship she has with Betty in Incredible Hulks.

Well they have had a go at giving her a supporting cast, more than once in fact, such as when they concentrated on her being a lawyer in her own title. Problem was that it seemed like as soon as they thought there was an issue with the title the first thing they chucked out was the supporting cast.

The writers seem only to want Jen, they don't want the characters that other writers have developed. Maybe it is an ego problem. They are not worried about Their Jen being compared to past Jen's because Jen as a character has a lot of history and can be flexible, but the supporting characters a previous writer built around her have very short histories and they are afraid of being called out with something like "Hey, the last guy didn't write her that way and he created her."

I wouldn't say that. Comic sales are just low all around. Characters like, Hawkeye, Rogue, Black Panther, (hell even some more popular characters solo series have failed, Deadpool Team-Up/corps, Wolverine Weapon X, Thor Mighty Avenger) have had miserable sales.

Yeah, I actually think Jen always ends up with a pretty good supporting cast---the problem is the whole cast gets chucked every time her book gets canceled and a new book with a new cast starts.

In her first series you had Zapper, her dad, Richard Rory, Buck as major supporting characters through out.

But when Sensational came out they were pretty much all dropped. We saw her dad once in a blue moon and I think Zapper turned up once. Instead we ended up with Weezie and I loved their friendship. But then Weezie got totally dumped once that series ended.

Dan Slott created one of the most well developed casts for her ever----Peter David added a great character in Jazinda as well---but now where are all of them ? Dumped again.

On a side note---I really liked the back up tale in the last issue of Incredible Hulks that showed why Bruce has stepped aside from Lyra's life and Jen is the one who is central to Lyra.

Reed, Sue, and Ben followed Trapster and a cadre of mercenaries into the Negative Zone. while they were occupied, Namor went a little crazy (because of polluted water) and Johnny had to attempt to stop him. they fought int he park and all of a sudden She-Hulk roller blades up (the art was decent). she trades blows w/ crazy Namor for a while before the guy just collapses. She-Hulk is surprised because she was holding back. turns out that Ant-Man (too tiny to see at the time) was the one who took Namor down; with a taser. Johnny had contacted former FF allies to help fight Namor. Jen starts giving Johnny a lot of grief because she wasn't the first called (Johnny had called Luke Cage, Namorita, and Ant-Man first). anyways, the next few issues went were Johnny leading his impromptu Fantastic Four (seen on the cover). Nita shows up while they are trying to figure out what happened to Namor (in one of Reed's labs).

I disagree. Bobillo MADE Slott's She-Hulk. I dropped it when the king of boredom, Paul Pelletier replaced him.

The first six issues by Slott and Bobillo are as perfect any comic you will ever find. A great mix of characterisation, imagination, inventiveness with a unique, distinctive look.

I wasn't crazy about Bobillo's art at first but its quirkiness grew on me. What confuses me about the original statement is that Vol 1 wasn't canceled. It was a planned marketing ploy to do a splashier relaunch of a second season of the same series. Plus, Bobillo was not doing the art for the last several issues of the first season and when the splashy relaunch started, he was back in place as artist. So it really doesn't make much sense to say his art was any kind of detriment to the book.

Jen's 30th anniversary year is near an end. How did everyone feel about it? I felt it was a good anniversary year, she appeared in quite a few books over the year including her own one-shot special. There were some things that could of made it better. Like She-Hulks selling well enough to stay as an ongoing. Hopefully there will be another in the new year.

Highlights for me; She-Hulks mini the current one and the Fall of the Hulks tie-in. Peter David story in She-Hulk: Sensational, being confirmed as playable in Marvel vs Capcom 3. The Premium Format figure from Sideshow collectibles. Finally being put on a team again.
